Just by understanding, the great qualities increase limitlessly. This is just an example of similarity, everything is completely different. Likewise, for a precious jewel, worldly needs and desires can arise, but it is impossible for the great qualities of the Buddha to arise. In the mind itself, the wish-fulfilling jewel, the great qualities of the Buddha are never interrupted, the difference in meaning is very great. The example of a mountain is shown, just as the mountain is unchanging and stable, the Bodhicitta also does not change. This is just an example of similarity, everything is completely different. Even though the mountain is very stable, it will be destroyed by the winds of the eon. The Dharma nature of Bodhicitta, exists in the three times without changing. Thus it was said. Again he asked: Kye Kye, Lord of Secrets! The mere appearance as a Dharma aspect, and the nature of Dharma itself, what is the similarity between these two? Please, Lord of Secrets, explain. The Lord of Secrets said: Hey, great Bodhisattva, listen! Seeing a conch, when looking at a conch, from grasping the white of the conch, it is impossible to generate grasping the yellow of gold. Seeing gold, when looking at gold, from grasping the yellow of gold, it is impossible to grasp the white of the conch. Merely the delusion of ignorance arises, from grasping the characteristics of things, it is impossible to realize the profound Dharma nature. Merely the wisdom of insight arises, from realizing the profound Dharma nature, it is impossible to grasp the characteristics of things. Thus it was said. Again he asked: Kye Kye, Lord of Secrets! What is meant by Alaya? What is its similarity? How is it that all sentient beings, are pervaded by the Dharmakaya and abide, is that called Alaya? Or is it abiding in the delusion of ignorance, is that called Alaya? Or does it refer to those mixed together? Please, Lord of Secrets, explain. The Lord of Secrets said: Hey, great Bodhisattva, listen! What is called Alaya, because it is the basis of all things, therefore it is named Alaya. For example, one would not call soil turbid, similarly, one would not call water turbid, only when soil and water are mixed together is it called turbid. Similarly, all sentient beings, pervaded by the Dharmakaya and abiding, that is not called Alaya. Abiding in the characteristics of conceptual thought, that is not called Alaya. The Dharmakaya is like water, defiled by habitual tendencies like soil.
