are equal in nature." Thus it was said. Again, it was asked: "Oh, oh, Lord of Secrets, how do straying and obscuration become faults? Please, Lord of Secrets, explain." The Lord of Secrets said: "Oh, great-hearted hero, listen! The eight inferior vehicles, with their own views of realization, obscure the higher ones because they do not see them. Through the efforts of body, speech, and mind, the vehicle strays from higher to lower. Obscured by viewing, confused by meditation, deteriorated by guarding, strayed by searching. However, in the Great Perfection Ati Yoga, there is no obscuration because awareness arises, and there is no place to stray because the nature of reality is not manipulated." Thus it was said. Again, it was asked: "Oh, oh, Lord of Secrets, how do sinking and agitation become faults? Please, Lord of Secrets, explain." The Lord of Secrets said: "Oh, great-hearted hero, listen! In all inferior vehicles, sinking and agitation are enemies of samadhi. The cause of sinking is the two, subtle and gross: dull and dim, confused and bewildered. Fatigue and drowsiness are the causes of sinking. External activities are the cause of agitation. When sinking, look at the light to dispel agitation. When agitated, rely on the wisdom of the superior view, the vajra stake. However, in the Great Perfection Ati Yoga, sinking and agitation are not distinguished as faults. Sinking is the unwavering nature of reality. Agitation is the clear wisdom of superior view. In the nature of reality, they are inseparable and equal." Thus it was said. Again, it was asked: "Oh, oh, Lord of Secrets, if one has entered the true path, is it possible for the tricks of demons to arise? How many kinds of demons are there? How do the tricks of demons manifest? What is the means of reversing them? Please, Lord of Secrets, explain." The Lord of Secrets said: "Oh, great-hearted hero, listen! There are four kinds of demons: the four afflictions and the delusion of ignorance, external obstacles and the path of interruption. From the four afflictions as the cause, the fruit of the delusion of ignorance arises. All are judged as good or bad. Hatred arises towards the bad, wanting to abandon it. Desire arises towards the good, wanting to take it. From distinguishing between the two, ignorance arises. The diseases of the three poisons enter. Therefore, one revolves in the three realms. Those who interrupt the teachings, and the enemies of discordant elements, act as external thief demons. Explaining the demon of the path of interruption, first,

O, encourage each and every being! In between, the harm of non-human demons, In the end, oneself and retinue together, Show various realms of activity of demons. From the arising of thoughts of hope and doubt, Demons will obstruct. The yogi who has faith and confidence, Will not fall away from the meaning of Samadhi, If he abandons the mind of both hope and doubt, Then he goes on the path of correct accomplishment. The yogi who practices Dzogchen, No matter what illusions the demons show, If he is determined in Bodhicitta, Everything transforms into the essence of Dharmata. There is not even the name called demon, When everything becomes relatives, The one called enemy cannot be found. Thus it was said. Also, from the Key of Unfolding Illusion, Chapter Fourteen, on unfavorable faults. Also, from the Key of Unfolding Illusion, The oral instruction on the measure of the body has been made into the later tantra. The condensed meaning in verse is complete.
