Abandon desire, thought, consciousness, transformation, and speech. These four roots are the basis for delusion in samsara. Without abandoning them, liberation is impossible. Therefore, they should be abandoned by all yogis. In the tantra of the Great Perfection, the gathering of all definitive meanings, equal to the wisdom of the sky, is the thirty-ninth chapter, which teaches the vows to be abandoned. Then, the All-Knowing King, in order to bestow the four kinds of vows, instructed the assembled retinue, like killing a poisonous snake or a criminal, the vows of body, speech, and mind, the ten fields of wrongdoing, and the blasphemy of mantras, etc. By killing the wicked, one obtains accomplishment. Just as a bee takes essence, yogis, by various means, take food and wealth from the miserly without giving and offer it as a feast. Like sucking the essence of a ripe Kheng-tog fruit, without regard for past or future, those with confidence, no matter how men and women engage in sexual activity, do not deviate from the meaning and are friends of bliss. Like a child playing with its hands, in order to enter the definitive meaning of the teachings, speak falsely of all the righteous dharmas. To conceal faults, half of the sin becomes virtue. Now listen again to the essence of the gathering, the vows that are bestowed. 449 These vows are also to be practiced by those who have confidence in their views, and cannot be done by ordinary people. Therefore, it should be done with confident wisdom. In the tantra of the Great Perfection, the gathering of all definitive meanings, equal to the wisdom of the sky, is the fortieth chapter, which teaches the vows to be practiced. The eighth teaching, summarized. Then, Vajrasattva, in order to benefit the assembled retinue, prayed to the King of All-Knowing Mind with truthful words, saying: What is the difference between ignorance and wisdom? Are the essence of object and mind cut off or not? What is the difference between the meaning of cause and effect? Is there meditation or not, like fire? What is the difference between realization and non-realization? Please explain, All-Knowing King. After asking this, after hearing the meaning, he instructed the assembled retinue: The difference between ignorance and wisdom that exists in the minds of all sentient beings is, I will tell you, now listen. First, in samsara, nirvana, and the bardo, like a debt, it moves in the unpredicted. That itself is not recognized as self, therefore no mind enters. That is the basis of the ignorance of samsara. Although one examines it, one does not know it, so it is called quiescent ignorance. Now listen again to the essence of the gathering, that without object

It is like this: Subtle habits arise, therefore oneself is obscured by oneself. 450 Co-emergent ignorance, is called a condition because of a cause. That cause is extremely swift, it is observed by grasping immediately. Habits arise and are grasped by faults, it is called the immediately preceding condition. By khu and the immediately preceding, the two conditions are united, co-emergent ignorance, from this, consciousness is produced and enters the womb. From this, subtle attachment and aversion arise, and are universally observed by internal grasping, therefore it is called the objective condition. Attachment and aversion arise more coarsely from this, arising from within and towards the outside, the appearance of habitual objects also, one's own mind enters into the contemplation of meaning. Objects and the eight worldly dharmas are observed without separation, the ego grasps strongly at the grasper and the grasped. Because manifest attachment and aversion are complete, the objective and dominant two conditions are complete, it is called imputed ignorance. Now listen again to the essence of the collection. Co-emergent and imputed two are gathered, it is the appearance of the alaya consciousness. From this, the eight aggregates are produced completely, therefore it is called wandering in samsara. Now listen again to Vajrasattva. The wisdom of all Buddhas, arises from realizing the nature of one's own mind. Ye is the basis of all self-arising, khes is the meaning of certainty with scripture, it is wisdom because of uniting the two. Like medicine and doctor gathering. The Great Perfection gathers all definitive meanings. Ye 451 is from the tantra equal to space, the forty-first chapter which explains the difference between ignorance and wisdom. Then, the King All-Knowing, spoke the teachings on the difference between object and mind. All the phenomena of appearance and existence, because they are habits of the deluded mind, although the attachments to appearances are various, their nature is not established in objects. Therefore appearance is inverted delusion. Now listen again to the essence of the collection. One's own mind is an example of delusion, like a rope being a snake, a hailstone being a person, universally observing the non-existent as existent. The four elements of earth, water, fire, and wind, are increased by the habits of delusion, although they appear to be real, they are not in reality. Therefore this object has no basis, all the ignorant grasp it as true. Destroyed by following wrong views, destroyed by being deceived by monkey-like language. Now listen again to Vajrasattva. Self-aware dharmakaya wisdom, is not produced by the four conditions of delusion.
