The realm of jewels, gathering all merits. The realm of the immaculate lotus, pure and undefiled. The realm of the beginningless, stable vajra cross, eternally unchanging. The realm of unobstructed, clear, and pervasive space, vast and boundless. The self-aware wisdom radiance arises, The five vases of wisdom radiance. From the realm of the unborn, never ceasing. In that state, there is no gathering or scattering. The five elements of earth, water, fire, wind, and space, In that power, they naturally arise. The five dharmata are primordially enlightened as Buddhas. The abode of the five wisdoms and three kayas, Is supreme because it pervades all. Earth, water, fire, and wind are great because they are completely pure. Thus it was said. Furthermore, Vajrapani asked: How is the self-nature Buddha great? Thus he asked. The Teacher proclaimed: The five elements that are the vessel of the Nirmanakaya, By the dharmata that arises from itself, Not confused about karma, the field of skillful means, The grasped and the grasper do not abide, completely pure. Self-nature is great because it manifestly attains enlightenment for its own benefit. The appearance of the five skandhas, Are the bodies of the Buddhas of the five families. The five kayas blaze with precious light. Without searching, it is spontaneously accomplished from the beginning. Wisdom is self-appearing, therefore self-nature is great. The appearance of the eight consciousnesses, Are the eight bodhisattvas, complete in oneself. It is not other, but self-appearing, therefore it is great. The eight objects of the eight consciousnesses, Are also the eight mothers appearing in oneself. Without searching, it is spontaneously accomplished in oneself. Wisdom is self-appearing, therefore self-nature is great. Arising from oneself and appearing from oneself, It is one's own radiance, therefore separate from objects. In the great self-appearance without objects, There is nowhere to go, therefore it is greater than all. It is one's own nature, therefore there is no need to search. It is great because it is spontaneously accomplished without searching. In oneself, one does not cultivate oneself, therefore it is great because it transcends effort and cultivation. In the meaning of self-appearance, there is no gathering or scattering, therefore it is great. On the unchanging ground, there is nothing to purify, therefore it is great. There is nowhere to go, therefore there is no object to focus on the path, therefore it is great. All dharmas are self-nature great. Inferior ones do not know this. Therefore, it is proclaimed as self-nature great. Thus it was said. Furthermore, the Lord of Secrets asked: How is that very Buddha great? Thus he asked. The Teacher proclaimed: Thus, to ascertain it, The four symbols of representation are greater than all, therefore great in simile. The long hook in the water, the appearance of wisdom is clear, therefore great in sign. The four symbols are definitely similes. The three kayas have no gathering or scattering, therefore great in meaning. The lamp of wisdom is definitely a sign. Therefore, it is great by three certainties.

Having gathered, the Teacher and others determined that it is great due to five reasons. Thus he spoke. Again, Vajrapani asked: How are all Buddhas great? Thus he asked. The Teacher replied: The self-aware, unchanging Dharmakaya, because it has no object of focus, transcends thought. Because it cannot be meditated upon, it is especially excellent. The Dharmakaya is insubstantial and transparent, because there is no object to be fixated upon, it is non-dual, and therefore especially excellent. Awareness is insubstantial and peaceful, there are no objects of elaboration or characteristics. It is great because it shines forth as great self-radiance. The self-aware Dharmakaya is great and non-dual, because it is without direction or time, it is especially excellent. The Dharmakaya is self-arisen wisdom, because it has no causes or conditions, it is unconditioned. Because it is without change, it is especially excellent. Because self-awareness is free from the five stains, all are primordially enlightened. Thus he spoke. In the Great All-Illuminating Thigle, the teaching that the eight vehicles are superior due to five greatnesses is taught, this is chapter fifty-four. Then again, the Lord of Secrets asked: Alas, alas, Bhagavan Vajradhara, the distinctions of the nine vehicles, explained in relation to the capacities of those to be tamed, how are their errors and obscurations? Thus he asked. The Teacher replied: Vajra-holder, listen well! The errors and obscurations of the nine vehicles, their distinctions are inconceivable, but if summarized, there are thirty-six. View, conduct, meditation, and result, the three categories of characteristics have many obscurations. Thirty-six, twenty-two, and eighteen, each have a sequence. The places of error are situated in twelve, eight, and four. The three categories of outsiders have equal errors and obscurations. The twelve obscurations are severed by darkness. The twelve errors and obscurations of transgressions are severed by darkness. There are twelve places of error in transgressions. The two categories of insiders have many places of error. Thirty-two and eighteen are severed in sequence. Obscurations are situated in four and six places. In the single thigle of Dzogchen, there is no duality of error and non-error. The place of error is naturally completely pure, free from all, unique, not abandoning anything. Because the view, meditation, conduct, and result of Ati are primordially non-dual, there are no errors or obscurations to be gathered into two. The four, view, meditation, conduct, and result, because they are primordially self-arisen and non-dual, there are no errors or obscurations from the gathering of causes and conditions. Because the view, meditation, and conduct of Dzogchen, and the result are spontaneously accomplished, the errors and obscurations of meditation, accomplishment, hope, doubt, and effort
