Without, separated from the meaning of aiming at an object. Not seeking meaning is like having no enemies. Then the assembly asked again: "In meditation without abandonment or abiding, What is meant by 'no desire, no arising'? When a yogi is effortless and not distracted, What is meant by 'no action, no obstruction'? How is the teaching of being free from extremes That does not turn into bondage? I beseech the All-Knowing Teacher to explain." He spoke to the assembled gathering: "In all aspects of the three times, Since primordial awareness arises without birth or death, All appearances, clinging, and discriminations, Whatever appears as the Dharmakaya, From where does the mind of abandoning, abiding, or effort arise? Since it does not change into something else and abides in the expanse, There are no dissimilar signs. Furthermore, Vajrasattva, listen, All shapes and signs, Since the meaning of not being established in the ground is understood, There is no discrimination towards objects in self-illumination. All pure and impure, Since there is no rejection or acceptance, The meaning of never having abiding or taking. Since there is no arising or entering, there is no need for meditation, Since there is no effort, it is the best of conduct. Furthermore, listen to the essence of the assembly, Since self and other are not established from the beginning, All actions and agents without exception, Even from the six realms of karma, they create Sugatas. Since whatever is practiced arises as primordial awareness in the Dharmakaya, There is no difference in any characteristics, Liberation is certain in the very nature of action. Taking and abandoning are naturally absent, How can that turn into bondage? From the Tantra of the Great Perfection, the Wheel of Bliss, Self-Arisen, Meaning-Gathered, the Thirty-Eighth Chapter, the Clear Unfolding of the Mind of Vajrasattva. Then Vajrasattva, For the benefit of the assembled retinue, To the King of All-Knowing Mind, With a truthful mind, asked thus: "To dispel the great obstacle of doubt, How are the pith instructions briefly gathered? What are the distinctions in the meaning of meditation? How does the experience of realization arise? I beseech the All-Knowing Teacher to explain." Having heard the meaning of such a request, He spoke to the assembled retinue: "The definitive meaning of the concise pith instructions, I will explain to you, hold it in your mind. Without object, without distraction, without abandoning or taking, For the yogi without the duality of hope and fear, Now, in this very moment, generate conviction and confidence, You will certainly abide on the Buddha ground. Now again, listen to the essence of the assembly, The way of abiding of self-arisen Dharma nature is, In the un fabricated awareness, If you do not attach any exaggerations or deprecations, The basis of the view

Do that itself. The way to abide in its nature is: The continuum of primordial nature without before or after, Just naturally clear without deliberate effort, Meditation is not going beyond that. Conduct without acceptance or rejection is: Because there is no arrangement of is and isn't, good and bad, etc., Not discriminating is the best of conduct. The fruit without hope or doubt is: That realization through scriptural causes, Not hoping to obtain it once, Realizing present self-mind as Dharmakaya. Listen also to the essence of the wheel. View, meditation, conduct, and fruit, Although differentiated in words, In meaning, they are non-different, one essence. Thus, it is spontaneously accomplished. From the Great Perfection, the Tantra of the Wheel of Spontaneous Bliss, the Essence of Meaning Gathered, the thirty-ninth chapter, which teaches the condensed pith instructions, is complete. Then, to the assembled circles, The All-Knowing Teacher spoke: The meaning of the distinctions of the experience of awareness, clear, non-conceptual, and unwavering, The authentic, definitive, confident words, I will explain to you without error or alteration. When the noble yogi is in equipoise, The nature, power, example, measure, definitive word, object, and result of clarity, non-conceptuality, and non-wavering, The nine doors of faults and deviations, are the summary words for introducing the Dharmakaya. Listen also, Vajrasattva, The nature of the spontaneously arising, clear Dharmakaya Is self-awareness, primordial wisdom. The power is the clarity of the five sense consciousnesses. The distinction is in the qualities of desire. The example is like a sesame oil lamp. The measure is that awareness is unobscured. The definitive word is that the pith instruction is clear without being spoken. The object is the appearance, the realm of phenomena. The result is the Sambhogakaya. The fault is that the senses are too unrestrained. The deviation is that dullness and agitation should be prevented. Listen also, assembled circles, To what is non-conceptual, The nature is not remembering before and after. The power is non-conceptualizing bliss. The object is ungrasping, unobstructed. The example is like letting go of activities. The definitive word is not being distracted by objects. The measure is being without memory, without dullness. The result is the Nirmanakaya, the six Thubpas arise. The fault is not being accustomed. The deviation is agitation, distraction, attachment to objects. Listen also, Vajrasattva, The Buddha's intention is unwavering, The nature is unchanging in the three times. The power is that primordial wisdom has no increase or decrease. The object is that awareness is unwavering and stable. The example is like the depths of the ocean. The definitive word is equanimity, unaffected by conditions.
