Not needed. If sentient beings desire enlightenment, Instead of seeking meaning from within the basis of all (Kunji), Abide in its very nature. This is the intent of the Buddhas, And also the essence of the Sugatas, Although present in the hearts of all sentient beings, It is merely unseen by knowledge. This definitive instruction for seeing it, Is never separate from knowledge. Furthermore, listen to the essence of the gathering, Even though there is the delusion of ignorance, The Buddha of fruition dwells in the heart. Therefore, it does not arise from elsewhere, This itself is the beginningless original. That, too, the self-aware wisdom, Just as sesame oil pervades sesame seeds, Self-awareness pervades all six realms of beings. Without birth or cessation, it continuously abides, Like the depths of the earth and the sky, Without coming or going, it abides as the Dharmakaya. Not realizing that meaning, being deceived by the mind, Even wandering in Samsara, there is no loss. That self-arisen wisdom of awareness, Like the sun in a cloudless sky, In the midst of the uncompounded expanse, Self-aware wisdom, the Dharmakaya, resides. Like precious camphor dissolving into light, Within the body is the Dharmakaya. When the body disintegrates, memory enters into a body, Therefore, it revolves in the stream of Samsara. Realizing the meaning, self-awareness greatly increases in its place, The self-arisen essence of awareness, Abides in the minds of all sentient beings. Therefore, it is the basis of all Samsara and Nirvana. From the Great Perfection, Spontaneous Bliss Wheel of Meaning, The seventeenth chapter, showing the abiding nature to all sentient beings, is complete. Then Vajrasattva, Again asked Kunrig, the Lord, "What is the realization of the abiding nature of meaning? How are the empowerments of awareness bestowed? How are the five paths without traversing completed? What are the qualities of the grounds and beyond?" Please, Kunrig, the teacher, explain. Hearing the meaning of the question, he gave the command, "I will explain the definitive meaning, listen with your mind. To a Lama with definitive lineage, With faith, diligence, and samaya, Having honored, served, and revered, The essential instructions will surely be given. Furthermore, listen to the essence of the gathering, For example, like a Brahmin elephant, By the forceful command of the king, With enticement, threats, deception, desiring wealth, Without life essence, it is of no benefit. Likewise, one with definitive lineage, If the essential instructions, the Dharmakaya, are not shown, With various methods and deceptions, Even seeking Dharma with the faults of stealing teachings, Not realizing one's own mind, one falls into the lower realms. Furthermore, Vajrasattva, listen.

With a mind of loving-kindness, free from jealousy, offering the life essence to the king, two Brahmins like golden bulls will appear. Both will accomplish whatever they wish in terms of power and wealth. Similarly, to a Lama who possesses the lineage, offer pleasing things and listen to whatever he says. To one who is sharp in wisdom and able to keep secrets, for the sake of bestowing the essential pith instructions, the disciple will certainly realize his own mind. Therefore, cherish and respect the Lama. This is explained as the method for bestowing the definitive meaning. From the Tantra of the Great Perfection, the Wheel of Bliss, Self-Arisen from the Gathering of Meanings, this is the eighteenth chapter, which explains the method for realization. Then, to the assembled circle, the order of empowerment is bestowed. The great empowerment of universal sovereignty is, first, the common empowerment. With faith and wisdom, one should abide in preparation. Bestow all the common empowerments completely. Then, with the definitive lineage, I will bestow it upon those who are vessels. Do not be distracted in mind; grasp the meaning! Also, by the assembled circle, whether it is an actual Samadhi mandala or not, with seven particularly excellent substances, in order to represent the meaning of the wisdom deity, on cloth or tree bark or paper, write the symbols of the five sense gates, place them slowly, and bless them. Then, the order of empowerment is the empowerment of universal sovereignty. From the five symbolic substances, on the crown of the head, the heart, and the throat, bestow the empowerment imprints of body, speech, and mind. On the right and left hands, likewise, are qualities and activities. Also, Vajrasattva, listen! The empowerment of self-illuminating awareness, the empowerment of view, meditation, conduct, and result, I will bestow upon the faithful circle. Do not be distracted, circle; gather your minds! The definitive meaning is the Dharmakaya of the Buddhas, the self-arisen bindu of clear light. For the manifestation of the wisdom of awareness, bestow the supreme wisdom body empowerment upon myself. In the darkness of the mind of ignorance, with the lamp of the mind of the lineage-holder, self-awareness, non-conceptual, right now, bestow the one unchanging mind empowerment. The definitive meaning is the speech of wisdom, Brahma. Understand the meaning of the words with your mind. In order to clarify that meaning, the speech of awareness, may you encounter the symbols and obtain the definitive empowerment! Also, Vajrasattva, listen! This insubstantial wisdom of awareness, inwardly clear, without distraction, completes all dharmas. The empowerment of the qualities of the Victorious Ones, bestow upon me the unchanging wisdom.
