Where is the extraordinary most special? Listen well to my words and contemplate. The nature of Samsara and Nirvana, And the dharmas that arise from them, Are empty in their very essence. The ground is like the sky, without duality. Now listen to the essence of Samsara. Ignorance gives rise to delusion. Therefore, it is the root of Samsara. Because it gives rise to habitual patterns of afflictions, The mind is like the eight consciousnesses, like darkness. Like a monkey, a student of the scriptures, The four logical principles of awareness, On this very appearance of objects, Know that awareness is without inherent nature. What is meditated upon as a clear flower, Is because of the wisdom of hearing and thinking. It is awareness, but not primordial wisdom. Now listen to the essence of gathering. Between mind and awareness, With the definitive instructions of the scriptures, Without destroying the logic of appearances, Samsara, Nirvana, and the Dharmakaya of ignorance. The ground is one's own awareness, Because of the wisdom of contemplation, It is self-arisen, but not primordial wisdom, Like the dawn breaking, without darkness. Now listen to Vajrasattva. In the Bardo of the Wisdom Body, The yogi with the intelligence of awareness, Having cut off the flow of mind, Primordial wisdom is clear and unobstructed, Because of the wisdom of meditation, There is no distraction in equanimity. Post-meditation, without distraction, like a treasure, Seek the Dharmakaya in the state of primordial wisdom. One who is seized by the certainty of conviction, Is like the sun rising, without shadows. Now listen to the essence of gathering. If the three kinds of wisdom are summarized, With faith in hearing, thinking, and meditation, Through continuous samadhi without separation, The fruit is manifest enlightenment in this very life. The Great Perfection, the gathering of all definitive meanings. From the Tantra of Primordial Wisdom Equal to Space, The chapter on the exposition of the gathering of the three wisdoms, the twenty-fifth. Thereafter, to the assembled retinue, The all-knowing teacher, the Dharma King, Spoke in parables and meanings, For example, the silk of Varanasi (ancient Indian place name, now Benares), After being painted and separated, Various colors appear. But the silk is undifferentiated, one essence. Likewise, the various thoughts of the mind, Appear separately due to the influence of objects. The appearing objects gather into the deluded mind. Therefore, appearances are uncertain. In front of a clear crystal ball, After placing silks of various colors, The crystal ball itself also appears in that way. Although it appears, it does not move from the mirror. Therefore, it is self-arisen.

Oho! Due to the causes and conditions of grasping and being grasped, the six realms arise. Although the nature of delusion appears in various ways, Even when appearing, it does not change from the ground. Now listen to the essence of the gathering. If good gold is merely transformed by hand, Or made into a copper vessel for dirty water, Gold also appears as a bad substance. Likewise, when examined by delusion, The realm is also an impure world, Seeing dangerous valleys, cliffs, and thorny pits. If a golden statue or stupa is made, Because it becomes a support for accumulating merit, Gold also appears as a good substance. In the face of one with wisdom, The realm is also completely pure, becoming a pure land. In the nature of precious gold, In the substance of gold, there is no good or bad. Likewise, in the face of the Dharmakaya, Appearance and non-appearance are not different from the ground. Now listen to the essence of the gathering. In the form of various silks, If made into brocade or felt, It is separated from the names of various silks, Because it becomes one taste of brocade or felt. Although the Dharmakaya, self-awareness, is mind, When shown through the causes and conditions of lineage, It is separated from the mind that grasps various things, Merging into one great bindu. For example, medicine and poison, the base is one, For some it is medicine, for others it is poison. Therefore, in this definitive meaning Dharma, For some it is enlightenment, for others it is hell. Like the poison of black hala, Skillful consumption is the best of medicines. Likewise, attachment and hatred are also like this, When afflictions are liberated in their own place, That is self-born wisdom, Like the essence of the king of medicine. If one is not skilled in consumption and eats badly, It is like the poison of black hala. The Dharma that abides in oneself is also like this, If there is power without lineage, Attachment and so on become the five poisons. Now listen to Vajrasattva, The precious gold hidden underground, If one does not know its face, it is like a stone. Likewise, the meaning that one has, If there is no realization, it is a deluded mind, If one recognizes the face, it becomes an inexhaustible treasure, The needs and desires arise from oneself. When the definitive meaning Dharmakaya is realized, It arises like a blessing jewel. Now listen to the essence of the gathering. Like the planets and stars in the sky, Like the reflections in pure water, Not one, not separate. Likewise, the king of awareness and, The two appearances of awareness as manifestation, Reverse aspects are different, but the essence is one. The Great Perfection, the gathering of all definitive meanings, from the tantra of wisdom equal to the sky, the thirty-third chapter explaining the definitive meaning of the gathering.
