Thus it is said. By the power of the Guru's instructions, Whatever arises is self-originated, Neither beginning nor end, But this very present awareness, There is nowhere better to go. The essence of the Great Perfection view, from the Tantra of Vast Expanse of Space, The sixth chapter, the reason for conviction, is complete. Then to the assembled gathering, The King of Mind, All-Aware, thus, Spoke the reality of meaning: Since the Dharmakaya is not connected to another, It precedes all outer and inner contents, Before both Buddhas and sentient beings, The basis of all that is without seeing, The self-originated essence is the Dharmakaya, The Buddhas did not create me, Sentient beings did not fabricate me, I do not depend on the five elements. Now again, listen to the essence of the gathering, From the basis of the thigle Dharmakaya, Transcending both cause and condition, No antidote can ever be established, Unchanging in the three times, truly existent. Now again, listen to the essence of the gathering, Like the sky, without beginning or end, One's own mind is free from focus in the ten directions, Knowing the unfocused as Dharmakaya, Just that is effortless bliss. Like the sun, unobscured, clear, The five senses are clear, without thought, The essence without thought is the wisdom mind, Separate from all grasping of samsara. Like the arising of precious qualities, Realizing the meaning, the result is Dharmakaya, All the qualities of the great Buddha, Unsought, spontaneously perfected arise. Like the earth is the basis for use, The self-originated essence is the very body, Becoming the basis of all samsara and nirvana, From the difference between awareness and non-awareness, All causes and effects arise from that. Like the ocean, without waves, The wisdom of realizing the essence, In samadhi, there is no wavering, That itself is the wisdom Dharmata body. Like the mountain king, unmoving, The basis of certainty, awareness without object, The Bodhicitta, unchanging by conditions, Abides without thought or separation. Now again, listen to the essence of the gathering, Of all the Buddhas of the three times, Conceptual thought is inseparable from me, Realizing the inseparable as Dharmakaya, Inconceivable, limitless qualities. The supreme yogi, fortunate one, Realizing the meaning of mind, knowing the face, The Dharmakaya Samantabhadra is the present me, In a lowly body, I am a Buddha. The essence of the Great Perfection view, from the Tantra of Vast Expanse of Space, Samantabhadra

Chapter Seven, the Breakthrough of Awareness. Then, Vajrasattva, with truthful words, requested Samantabhadra of Essence: "Dharmata, essence, and the natural state, from where did the first samsara arise? How are the eight consciousnesses not the Dharmakaya? From what did the basis of delusion of the eight vehicles arise? If one meditates without realization, how will one err? What are the faults of declining view and conduct? How is the fruition body obscured? Where do the karmic imprints of samsara reside? Please, Kunrig Gyalpo, explain." Having heard the meaning of this request, with compassion, he spoke to the assembled retinue about the way beings are deluded: "Delusion arises in the ground, which is the six limits of the beginning. The alaya consciousness and the eight aggregates of consciousness are one's own mind, not the Dharmakaya. Increasing upwards and deluding downwards, samsara and nirvana arise from this. Now listen to the essence of the gathering. Like the radiance of the rising sun, at first, it is knowing but unlabelled. Although it is the power of the purity of Dharmata, it becomes subject to conditions because it is unlabelled. Ignorance is the cause, and wrong thought is the condition. Because it is generated by these four conditions, ignorance is complete in two aspects. When the two are joined, the alaya is formed. Now listen to the essence of the gathering again. Because of ignorance such as existence and non-existence, from beginningless time, there is grasping at truth. Samsara arises because of this flowing. Like a rope mistaken for a snake, or hail mistaken for a person, the sense faculties are always distracted by objects. One does not attain the path of liberation, and one is born and dies. The cause of samsara is conceptual thought. One is attached to objects without transforming them with view. One regards the eight dharmas as subject and object and holds them as true. In order not to destroy the suffering of birth and death, one wanders in the wheel of the three realms of samsara, with karmic imprints and signs as conditions. The alaya is the basis of samsara without liberation. Therefore, samsara is only this." The essence of the view of Dzogchen, from the Tantra of the Vast Expanse of Space, Chapter Eight, which explains from where the first samsara arose. Then, Kunrig Gyalpo spoke to the assembled retinue: "The root of all samsaras is the union of object and mind. Object is also the delusion of one's own mind. Mind is the eight aggregates of consciousness. The fifty-one mental factors that arise from mind all gather in the root alaya. For all sentient beings, the natural state is to look outward and to look inward, and the knowing that observes both, and what needs to be corrected and what does not need to be corrected."
