Without confidence in the meaning, one cannot succeed. Without instructions, one cannot realize the mind. Body, speech, and Dharma practice will not lead to Buddhahood. Without fully grown wings, one cannot fly. Without practical experience, mere words Cannot subdue attachment and aversion. Beings go astray on their own path. Now listen to the essence of the gathering again. Like evil siblings harming each other, Without any familiarity, Since one cannot engage in calm abiding, How can one reverse the clinging to appearances? Like losing one's way in the twilight, Without clearly realizing insight, Since the two form bodies cannot arise, One cannot accomplish the benefit of sentient beings. Like a year of bad harvest leading to hunger, If one does not know the unity of view and meditation, Then alternating sessions of meditation Are not the continuous yoga of inseparable union. Vajrasattva, listen again. Like tearing clothes without knowing how to wear them, If one does not guard bodily conduct, And engages in improper actions, The result will become a cause of suffering. Like being bloated from not knowing how to eat, If one does not guard speech, One slanders the Dharma of others. In the next life, one will be born in the hot hells. Like vomiting from not knowing how to drink, If one does not guard mental conduct, Due to clinging to self, grasping and fixation arise. In the next life, one will be born in the dark hells. Now listen to the essence of the gathering again. Like not recognizing someone without acquaintance, If one does not understand the order of actions, The conduct of secret mantra will decline. Power and blessings will be absent. Like not seeing the path without eyes, If the wisdom of mudra is not clear, There is no sign of the meaning of the wisdom deity. The supreme accomplishment will not be attained. Like not crossing water without a boat, For the sake of oneself and others, If samadhi is not clearly generated, One will not be tamed and obstacles will arise. That too is the essence of the gathering, listen. The person who breaks empowerments and vows, Is as brief as the stretching and contracting of a man's hand. In a single instant, one will fall into hell. The suffering of that is beyond words. Even if one fears that suffering and desires liberation, Without realizing the essence of one's own mind, Even if one performs the fulfillment and confession rituals Of Maha Yoga and below, The decline of view cannot be fulfilled. The very essence of the Great Perfection's view, From the tantra of "Vast Expanse of Space," is the fourteenth chapter, which explains the faults of the decline of view and conduct. Then, to the assembled gathering,

Thus spoke the King of All-Knowing: Without separating from the ripened body, it is impossible for the qualities of a Buddha to arise. Even with the marks and signs, the powers, and the eighteen fearless qualities, they are now obscured by the body and do not arise. Even if a great garuda's wings grow in the egg, it cannot fly until it hatches. Likewise, the yogi who realizes the mind is obscured by the great qualities of this body. Furthermore, listen to the essence of the gathering. The guru who is like a monkey in the tantras and agamas, playing with my definitive meaning, desiring to attain the accomplishment of longevity, with the combination of common medicines, taking elixirs, doing retreats, nourishing the body with milk, increasing radiance, will not be able to withstand poison, weapons, and so on. Even after flying like a bird, only subtle dreams and clairvoyance will arise. Holding gods and obstacles as sacred, because one has not realized one's own mind, one wanders in samsara. Since this body is an external object, although it is temporarily inseparable, it is extremely binding and cannot be liberated by skillful means. Therefore, listen to the noble wisdom. Without sentient beings separating from the body, how can the qualities of a Buddha arise? Wanting to attain the result with the body is extremely foolish and a cause for reproach. Furthermore, listen to the essence of the retinue. Even the Bhagavan, at the supreme root, abandoned his own body in the bardo and manifestly awakened in the Akanishta realm. What need is there to mention all sentient beings? The innermost essence of the Great Perfection's view, from the tantra of the Vast Expanse of Space, the fifteenth chapter, which teaches that one cannot awaken without separating from the body. Then, to the assembled retinue, the King of All-Knowing spoke: Wandering in the uncomprehended bardo is the basis of initial delusion. Attachment, sleep, and the aggregates of destruction are signs of having taken previous births. Therefore, the basis is the habitual tendencies. Furthermore, listen to the noble wisdom. In the uncomprehended transition of life, the bardo is like clouds, fog, and darkness obscuring the bubble-like eye. Ignorance obscures the essence of the dharmakaya. Like the habitual tendencies of a blind person who has had his eyes gouged out. At that time, one remembers past places, one remembers clothes and relatives. Separated from the eyes of the body, one is confused and suffers. For example, a moth flies into a flame, likewise, one is caught in the trap of desire. In order to be liberated from the complete faculties, one is influenced by the power of ignorance and engages in actions. Because one lacks the eye of wisdom of view, body, speech,
