From..., the essence of one's own mind's meaning, Because of not knowing the basis itself, it is mistaken. Not realizing, not liberating, extremely bound. Dzogchen cuts off samsara completely. In the Wisdom Tantra of Dharmakaya, the unborn, Chapter Six explains the errors of the lower vehicles. Furthermore, Vajrasattva, listen! The Dharma nature of the self-born essence, Not realizing, deliberately meditating on the five poisons, The cause is common suffering, like a tree. Abandoning the three kinds of conceptualization, One's own mind 679, Without realizing the essence, Desiring to meditate is pitiful. Plunging into the ocean without learning to swim is ruinous. Furthermore, listen to the essence of the union. Like a blind woman with a beautiful face, Without realizing the essence of Dharmakaya, Whatever one thinks about the dharmas of samsara and nirvana, By meditating, it will not transform into liberation. Therefore, whatever one meditates on without realizing, By taking this appearance as the basis, Like seeing a mirage and wanting to drink water, Samsara and nirvana are sudden causes, The essence, the true nature, is not Dharmakaya. In the Wisdom Tantra of Dharmakaya, the unborn, which cuts off samsara completely, Chapter Seven shows that meditating without realization leads to deviation. Furthermore, Vajrasattva, listen! The root of all dharmas, Without relying on the gurus, Entering the door of profound secret mantra, Without the authority to listen, explain, practice, or empower, Involuntarily bestowing authority on others, Like a cowardly person, a timid one, a lowborn person, Causing Tho-cho (a divination method) and the teachings (bka'-gzhuṅ, the guru's teachings and the monastery's rules) to decline, Interrupting harm is like a sore on the tongue, falling down. Furthermore, listen to the essence of the union, Like taking poison and killing curses, When the vows of body, speech, and mind are broken, The result is madness, epilepsy, muteness, etc., In the future, falling into the Vajra Hell. Like an unripe fruit, a weak power cannot grow, Without distinguishing, the continuum is not liberated, Without confidence in the instructions, 680 the mind does not realize, Without practicing, the radiance does not subdue. Furthermore, listen to the essence of the union, Like a bad place, a dark night, a bad year, If calm abiding and insight are not connected, Then the stages, the result, and the three do not arise, Therefore, that which is unrelated is not yoga, Like an overturned and filled water bag, With the coarse behavior of body, speech, and mind, Suffering and slander transform into grasper and grasped, In the future, falling into the evil karma of Dutar. Like a blind person without a rope, without a boat, Mudra, mantra, and samadhi decline, Faults appear.

Wandering aimlessly without cause. Therefore, it is very difficult to practice secret mantras. From the Tantra of the Great Perfection Cutting Off the Root of Samsara, Dharmakaya, Unborn Wisdom, Chapter Eight, Showing the Faults of Decaying View and Conduct. Furthermore, Vajrasattva, listen! The boundary between samsara and nirvana is: the mind of a teacher who is like a monkey with scriptures and oral instructions, wanting to attain the accomplishment of true meaning, through the combination of medicines, etc., even if possessing the five common qualities, without separating from the body of fruition, wanting to perfect the qualities of a Buddha, is an extremely foolish and blameworthy place. The Bhagavan also, in the supreme Tsa, abandoned his own body and attained Buddhahood, if even the body of fruition is not abandoned, how can one attain the fruit? What need is there to mention others! From the Tantra of the Great Perfection Cutting Off the Root of Samsara, Dharmakaya, Unborn Wisdom, Chapter Nine, Showing That One Cannot Attain Buddhahood Without Separating from the Body of Fruition. Furthermore, listen to the essence of accumulation! Therefore, the characteristics of samsara are: the four base-abiding habitual tendencies, and the five habitual tendencies that arise immediately from the causes of transgression, involuntarily entering the womb. The reason for this is the three poisons, the three alayas produce suffering, unable to attain the path of liberation, being born and dying. Furthermore, listen to the essence of accumulation! Existing in the hearts of all sentient beings, although the alaya is the root of samsara, it is not the root of the dharmakaya. Therefore, the alaya is an accumulated phenomenon, wandering under the control of conditions, like a river merging into the end of the ocean, without being liberated, there is no possibility of liberation. From the Tantra of the Great Perfection Cutting Off the Root of Samsara, Dharmakaya, Unborn Wisdom, Chapter Ten, Showing Where Samsara Currently Resides. Vajrasattva asked again: The great method of reversing delusion is, through the distinction of faith, diligence, samaya, and self-born wisdom, where will samsara ultimately go? Please, all-knowing king, explain. Having heard the meaning of the request, he bestowed the teaching: Those who want to reverse the delusion of ignorance, regarding the meaning that is not touched by both samsara and nirvana, the method of realizing the essence of one's own mind, disregarding body and life, with faith, with a mind without fear and dread, with a mind without doubt and hesitation, inquire into the root of samsara and nirvana in its own nature. With the diligence of great courage and steadfastness, believing without turning back, without distraction.
