The Chapter on Entering the Ocean. Now listen to the essence of the gathering again. Like a blind woman in love with a beautiful woman, Without realizing the essence of the Dharmakāya, Whatever you think about saṃsāra and nirvāṇa, You will not be liberated by meditation. Therefore, whatever you meditate on without realization, By taking this appearance as the basis, Like seeing a mirage as water and wanting to drink it, Since saṃsāra and nirvāṇa are sudden conditions, The essence and reality are not the Dharmakāya. From the Tantra of the Innate Awareness of the Dharmakāya, the Great Perfection that Cuts Through the Root of Saṃsāra, The seventh chapter, which shows that meditating without realization is a deviation. Now listen to Vajrasattva again. The root of all dharmas, Without relying on the gurus, Entering the door of profound secret mantra, Without the power of listening, explaining, and practicing, Bestowing power on others without one's own power, Like a useless, cowardly outcaste, Vainly causing the Buddha's words and scriptures to decline, Obstacles and harms fall like cutting the tongue with a sharp knife. Now listen to the essence of the gathering again. Like poison and deadly infectious diseases, Taking vows and eating, If the vows of body, speech, and mind are broken, The result will be madness, swelling, and muteness, And in the next life, one will fall into the Vajra Hell. Like a young shoot that is small and does not grow, Without distinguishing between good and evil, the lineage will not be liberated, Without confidence in the instructions, the mind will not be realized, Without practice, the power will not be suppressed. Now listen to the essence of the gathering again. Like a bad land, a dark night, and a bad year, If śamatha and vipaśyanā are not connected, The three fruits of sequential placement will not arise. Therefore, without connection, it is not yoga. Like pouring out and scattering things, With coarse actions of body, speech, and mind, Suffering, slander, increase, and grasping will follow, And in the next life, one will fall into the evil karma rākṣasa. Like a blind person without a foundation, without a boat, Mudrā, mantra, and samādhi will decline, Three faults will arise, wandering meaninglessly. Therefore, secret mantra is difficult to practice. From the Tantra of the Innate Awareness of the Dharmakāya, the Great Perfection that Cuts Through the Root of Saṃsāra, The eighth chapter, which shows the faults of declining view and conduct. Vajrasattva, listen again. The boundary between saṃsāra and nirvāṇa, The mind of the guru whose tantras and scriptures are like a monkey, Desiring to attain the accomplishment of the true meaning, With the combination of medicines and so on, Although possessing the five common qualities, Without separating from the body of ripening, Yet wanting to perfect the qualities of the Buddha, Is extremely foolish and a place of reproach. But the Blessed One also regards the root as supreme.

If one becomes a Buddha by abandoning one's own body, with a body of maturation, what need is there to say that one will not obtain the fruit? From the Tantra of the Wisdom of the Dharmakaya, Unborn, Cutting the Root of Samsara, the Great Perfection: The Ninth Chapter, which teaches that one does not become a Buddha without separating from the body of maturation. Now listen again to the essence of the gathering. Therefore, the characteristics of samsara are: four types of ground-basis habitual patterns, and five types of adventitious habitual patterns arising from causes of downfall. Without autonomy, one enters the womb. The cause of this is the three poisons, from which arise the three sufferings of the alaya. One does not attain the path of liberation, and is born and dies again. Listen again to the essence of the gathering. The alaya, which dwells in all sentient beings, is the basis of samsara, but not the basis of the dharmakaya. Therefore, the alaya is a compounded phenomenon, which transmigrates by the power of conditions. The river flows into the end of the ground-basis. Until one is liberated, there is no possibility of liberation. From the Tantra of the Wisdom of the Dharmakaya, Unborn, Cutting the Root of Samsara, the Great Perfection: The Tenth Chapter, which teaches where samsara currently dwells. Vajrasattva again asked, "What is the great means of reversing delusion? With faith, diligence, samaya, and the distinctions of self-arisen wisdom, where will samsara ultimately go? Please, All-Knowing King, explain." Hearing the meaning of the question, he gave the following instruction: "Those who wish to reverse the delusion of ignorance, the meaning untouched by both samsara and nirvana, the means of realizing the essence of one's own mind, without regard for body or life, with faith, with a mind free from fear and dread, without doubt or hesitation, inquire into the nature of the root of samsara and nirvana. With the diligence of great courage, having generated conviction that one will not turn back, without distraction, continuously. Now listen again to the essence of the gathering. Do not seek meaning outside of the mind. Without abandoning the five poisons, know the nature of reality. Knowing this, without meditating, there is no place to err. Now listen again to the essence of the gathering. With regard to whether self-arisen wisdom is or is not, the meaning of the four types of distinctions, with the oral instructions of a qualified lama, if the essence of one's own mind, the dharmakaya, is pointed out, one will know it immediately. Until it is pointed out, it is impossible to know. Now listen again to the essence of the gathering. Self-cognizant wisdom, the great light, without going or coming, destroys samsara. When ignorance is reversed, wisdom arises. When samsara is reversed, suffering ceases. Knowing this, without meditating, it is spontaneously accomplished. Do.
