How to desire? Furthermore, the great essential meaning is like a great garuda soaring in the sky. Just by remembering it, it becomes clear as the Dharmakaya. Just that is enough; there is no need to search. Therefore, this is the path of non-progression, like a precious jewel. Just by realizing it, the benefit of oneself and others is spontaneously accomplished. Therefore, this definitive meaning is very rare. Now, listen, Vajrasattva. You are of the lower vehicle. For example, sesame seeds have oil, but if they are not pressed, the oil will not come out. Similarly, although it exists within oneself, it cannot be known unless it is shown. Even if one practices conditioned Dharma for hundreds of millions of kalpas, the fruit of Buddhahood will not arise. Now, listen to the essence of the gathering. Although there are many ways to know these things, if one does not know what one has within oneself, seeking it from others is a foolish act. Therefore, this meaning of non-seeking is very important. The sixteenth chapter, "Refuting Other Tenets," from the Great Perfection Definitive Meaning Gathering, is complete. Then, Vajrasattva, in order to benefit the gathering of the assembly, spoke these words of truth to the King of All-Knowing Mind: What is the difference between ignorance and wisdom? Are the object and the mind the same or different in their basis? What is the difference in the meaning of cause and effect? Is there meditation or not, and how is it? What is the difference between realization and non-realization? Please, King of All-Knowing, explain. Having heard the meaning of this request, he spoke to the gathering of the assembly: For the benefit of all sentient beings, the difference between ignorance and wisdom is, now listen to my explanation. First, in samsara, nirvana, and the bardo, there is awareness, but it is not pointed out. They do not recognize it as their own. Therefore, with what kind of mind do they enter? That is the basis of the delusion of samsara. Even if one examines it, one cannot know it. This is called the fundamental ignorance. Now, listen to the essence of the gathering. In that, the grasping without an object arises as a subtle part of habituation. Therefore, one obscures oneself with oneself. Co-emergent ignorance is called the condition of the cause. That cause is very swift, and it is judged by grasping immediately. Clinging to the name of habituation is called the immediate condition. Because of grasping the two conditions of cause and immediacy, it is co-emergent ignorance. Now, listen to the essence of the gathering. The consciousness generated by this enters the womb, and subtle self-grasping, attachment, and aversion arise.

The inner grasping is always firmly established. Therefore, it is called the condition of the object. Taking it out from within, the appearance of the habitual realm of the outer world, The evil thoughts of one's own mind enter. On the object, the eight worldly dharmas are constantly scrutinized. I, self, evil thoughts, clinging, looking, and attachment, Manifest cause, attachment, and hatred are complete. The object and the possessor, the two conditions are complete. Conceptualization is called ignorance. Now listen to the essence of the assembly again. The two, coemergent and conceptual, are combined. It is the Alaya consciousness. Because it gives rise to the complete eight consciousnesses, It is said to wander in samsara. Now listen to the essence of the assembly again. The wisdom of all Buddhas Arises from realizing the nature of one's own mind. Or the basis of all self-arising, Knowing the definitive meaning with scripture, Because of the union, it is wisdom. Like the combination of medicine and doctor. The seventeenth chapter, which shows the difference between ignorance and wisdom, from the Great Perfection, the definitive meaning assembly, is complete. Then, the All-Knowing King, The distinction between object and mind was taught. All phenomena of appearance and existence, Because of the increase of habitual tendencies of the deluded mind, Various appearances and attachments, The essence is not established on the object. Therefore, appearance is a false delusion. Now listen to the essence of the assembly again. One's own mind is an example of delusion, Like a rope, a snake, a marmot, and a person, Always judging existence in non-existence. The four elements of earth, water, fire, and wind, Because of the increase of habitual tendencies of delusion, Although appearing as real, they are meaningless. This object is completely non-existent, But all fools hold it as true, Falling by following the wrong path, Like a monkey deceived by evil teachings. Now listen, Vajrasattva, On the self-aware Dharmakaya wisdom, Because the four conditions of ignorance are not produced, Because there is no Alaya, there is also no mind. Both object and mind are not on the basis. Therefore, the Dharmakaya is not the mind. Because it possesses self-aware wisdom, Because there is no appearance, it is free from clinging. Clear, without clinging, and unwavering, It is said to be the intention of all Buddhas. Now listen, Vajrasattva, The cause of clinging to one's own mind as an object, The seed of samsara is ignorance. By making cause and condition, suffering arises. Therefore, the self-deluded, ignorant mind, The cause of grasping and clinging, sinking and rising, Relying on the object, attachment and aversion arise. The cause of samsara is attachment and aversion.
