The sixteenth chapter ends. Then, to the assembled retinue, The All-Knowing Teacher spoke: Primordially liberated in essence, Believing in this reason is essential. Since there is no effort of body, speech, and mind, Self-arisen awareness has no bondage or liberation. Therefore, it abides in its own essence. Now, listen, Vajrasattva: Since it is not tainted by the faults of grasping and being grasped, Conceptual thoughts are liberated in their own place. Therefore, the expanse of definitive wisdom, Since it does not arise from causes and conditions, The self-arisen essence body. Realizing this is liberation into the Dharmakaya, There is no other true Buddha than this. Now, listen, Vajrasattva: Since the nature of reality does not change in the three times, The basis does not change under the power of karma. Therefore, liberation is through realizing the Dharmakaya, There is nothing else besides that. With faith in the definitive scriptures, The yogi who has gained definitive confidence, From this very human body, Attains the fruit of Buddhahood right now. Therefore, the essence of one's own mind, Cannot be sought with effort at this time. It cannot be meditated upon with non-grasping clarity. Therefore, the confidence of genuine understanding, The supreme yogi is the one who possesses that. Now, listen to the essence of the gathering: Since the Bodhicitta is completely pure, Realizing the meaning of that self-arisen meaning, There is no need to accomplish Buddhahood elsewhere. Therefore, cherish the instructions that possess scripture, In order for the mind to be liberated into the purity of reality, The five poisons of affliction are liberated in their own place, It is not tainted by faults. In the self-arisen body is the wisdom mind, Sentient beings' own minds have no grasping, Therefore, there is not even a particle of degeneration. Now, listen to the essence of the gathering: All of the world, without exception, Even if it were transformed into inconceivable words, Just as the sky cannot be burned, For the yogi who has realized the definitive meaning, Even if gods, demons, and dakinis rise up as enemies, They cannot harm him, he acts as he is. Therefore, possessing scripture is extremely important. The Great Perfection, the Definitive Meaning Gathering, the chapter that shows the reason for the liberation of one's own mind into its own essence, the seventeenth, is complete. Then, for the benefit of the assembled retinue, Vajrasattva asked the All-Knowing Teacher: How do the three bodies of the fruit of the definitive meaning, those to be tamed, arise? To whom among the retinue is this spoken? What is the example and meaning of the unchanging continuity? I beseech the Equal King to explain. Hear the meaning of that request

Sa! The All-Good Teacher spoke thus: The essence of the Buddha is the three kayas, The Dharmakaya is self-arisen awareness, In the three times, there is no birth or cessation, Without coming or going, it abides from the beginning. Now listen to the essence of the gathering, The analogy for the definitive Dharmakaya is, The uncompounded great sky, Non-material, all-pervading, one in the three times, Without boundaries to be distinguished. That meaning, the self-arisen essence, Unspeakable, self-aware kaya, For the sake of clarity in the heart, with certainty, Therefore, Samantabhadra is the Dharmakaya. The realm of the Dharmata, the expanse of bliss, The nature of the primordial awakened mind, From that, there is not a particle of change. Self-arisen awareness is utterly pure, In the heart door of the essence Dharmakaya, The meaning of no cause and effect on the ground. By the effortless essence of Dharmata, Samsara, nirvana, and ignorance are spontaneously perfect dharmas. The Dharmakaya, the teacher Samantabhadra, With the blessing of the definitive meaning of his intention, Does not turn away from the nature of the ten directions, He speaks to the Buddhas of the three times. From the Great Perfection, the Definitive Meaning Gathering, The eighty-eighth chapter, which teaches the beings to be tamed by the Dharmakaya. Then, to the assembled gathering, The All-Knowing King spoke, The Sambhogakaya, the Enjoyment Body of the Buddha, Its disciples will certainly arise, Listen well to the meaning of that. The analogy for the arising of the Sambhogakaya is, In the non-material emptiness of space, The five colors of the rainbow are clear and unmixed. Just that is non-material, Likewise, one's own essence is also, The unborn Dharmakaya's own power, The five families arise with colored bodies and ornaments. Therefore, it is the Sambhogakaya Buddha, In the ground of the Alaya Dharmakaya, It is clear without prior or subsequent imprints. Although the play of the five elements is diverse, Because there is no attachment, it is the realm of Dharmata. The fruit of true certainty is found, Through the door of the Sambhogakaya, The hidden meaning of inner and outer secrets, To the Vidyadhara Bodhisattvas of the ten bhumis, He reveals the secret mantra with his own essence. From the Great Perfection, the Definitive Meaning Gathering, The eighty-ninth chapter, which teaches the disciples of the Sambhogakaya. Then, to the assembled gathering, The All-Knowing Teacher spoke, The Nirmanakaya Buddha, How does the Nirmanakaya show itself? For the sake of beings, to the disciples, He accomplishes the meaning according to what is appropriate.
