As one. The different characteristics of lands, Because they are examined by one's own mind, All inner and outer phenomena, Because there is no lineage, are one in mind. From the Great Perfection Definitive Meaning Gathering, Chapter Thirty-One, which shows that all phenomena are gathered in the mind, is complete. Then, to the assembled circle of the Gathering, He spoke about the mistaken desires of the mind, Because the Dharmakaya of the mind is obscured, In the bardo between samsara and nirvana, If one does not know the cutting of the beginning and end, One will not be liberated from birth, old age, sickness, and death. Like a merchant without a guide. In the bardo between birth and death, If one does not know the introduction to the Dharmakaya, The darkness of ignorance will never dawn. Like a dark room without a lamp. Now listen, Vajrasattva, In the bardo between object and mind, If one does not know the cutting of the mistaken place, It is impossible to turn back from the danger of afflictions. Like a female bear caught in a trap. In the bardo between meditation and post-meditation, If one does not know how to be constantly inseparable, The view and meditation will not be able to accomplish the cause. Like a spring dried up by drought. In the bardo of existence, If one does not know when the Buddha will appear, The two form bodies will not be able to arise. Like losing a precious jewel in a muddy pit. In the bardo of arguing about self and other, If there is no key to the important words, One will not surpass other vehicles. Like a minister defeated on the battlefield. Now listen to the essence of the Gathering, Those are the faults of not having instructions. Because the root of the mind is ignorance, Because various confusions arise. The root of samsara is the five attachments and aversions, Constantly wandering in the three lower realms. Therefore, ignorance is confused by the mind. Now listen, Vajrasattva, The mind's desires have ten aspects, Showing the wrong view of strict examination. Therefore, appearances are made into mind. Not knowing the definitive meaning, it is destroyed by the mind. Without a true mind, one does not know the Dharma. Therefore, without scripture, one examines with reason. The wisdom mixes object, mind, and awareness. Now listen to the essence of the Gathering, Until the Sugata-garbha is seen, This great meaning of scripture and certainty, Until it is found, one will not attain Buddhahood. Therefore, the root of all phenomena is, The Dharmakaya is obscured by one's own mind. Now listen to the essence of the Gathering, Because the mind is meaningless and confused, The mistaken place of the Dharmakaya is the mind, The self-arisen nature of reality is separate from the mind. Separate from mind, the self-arisen wisdom body. Now listen, Vajra

O noble being, listen! Whatever it may be, in whatever place, Because of following the five doors of consciousness, It is not view or meditation, it is the mind of ignorance. Because the six realms are generated by the mind, The delusion of ignorance arises from the mind. Therefore, the mind is said to be a wrong path. Now, listen to the essence of the Düpa (Samgraha, Collection)! In the essence of the self-originated Düpa, Because there are no eight aggregates, it is separate from the mind. The various minds are under the control of others, That is called one's own mind. Because the root of faults is the mind, Therefore, one cannot attain Buddhahood through the mind. Because it is born from the causes and conditions of the mind, It is not definitive, but a deluded intellect. Again, listen to the essence of the Düpa, The definitive meaning is explained as the wrong path of Ati. Therefore, the mind is a Dharma of the wrong path, Like a blind person not seeing a precious jewel. This is the thirty-second chapter, which shows that one's own mind is a wrong path, from the definitive meaning Düpa of the Great Perfection. Then, to all the assemblies of the Düpa, The all-knowing teacher spoke these words: The mind is the root of Samsara (cyclic existence), In the various appearances of objects, The mind clings to various thoughts. Therefore, the mind is the cause of Samsara. Because grasping at permanence and annihilation is the mind, The wrong path of views arises from the mind. Whatever is thought is the delusion of one's own mind, From the conceptual thoughts that arise from the mind, All attachment and aversion are generated. Hope and fear of Samsara and Nirvana are created by the mind. Therefore, the mind is a wrong path as the cause of Samsara. Now, listen again to the essence of the Düpa, Through the conceptual thoughts created by the mind, Countless cycles of rebirths, Because this mind has created them, they are not self-originated. Therefore, the mind is a sudden delusion. Thus, they cling to the eight worldly Dharmas. Now, listen again, Vajrasattva! All the fools who do not see the definitive meaning, Say that there is no Dharma other than the mind. Therefore, the minds of the deluded are mistaken. Foolish meditation is ruined by meditating on darkness. Whatever is thought, this Dharma of the mind is wrong. All the evil paths created by the mind, Taking and rejecting, this mind is extremely chaotic. Ruined by showing the provisional meaning as the mind. Disturbed by the mind that has made effort. With the constricted words of hoping to know, This definitive meaning, without error, this teaching arises. Now, listen again to the essence of the Düpa, All the ignorant and deluded beings, Say that even the Dharmakaya itself is the mind. Therefore, they do not understand the meaning from the words. It is difficult to know the definitive meaning from the names. Therefore, one cannot attain enlightenment through the mind. That is the example of searching for it.
