How is it? The teacher of teachers, Samantabhadra, To the Guhyasamaja Vajrasattva, From the Dharmakaya's nature of utter emptiness, It is nothing, yet appears as everything, That appearance and the essence of the body, Not seeing them as one, but seeing them as distinct, By the appearance of distinctness, the cause of confusion arises. From that very appearance that arises from it, The outer is seen as emptiness, like the sky. Since inner awareness is not established anywhere, That awareness is also seen as like the sky. On awareness itself and the power of awareness, It becomes the blueprint for the confusion of nihilistic heretics. The essence of awareness abiding in emptiness, And the self-radiance of awareness being without inherent existence, The nature of mind abiding in emptiness, And the mind seeing objects as empty, Those two being similar, of the same kind, gathering together, Therefore, it becomes the blueprint for the confusion of heretics. Since that mind's nature cannot be found even when sought, Since that mind's essence is not established in any way, Therefore, it is realized that there is no agent or object. All phenomena of appearance, completely without exception, No matter how they appear, they do not stain the mind. The mind and objects are realized as two distinct entities, That mind's essence cannot be seen or meditated upon. Since the mind is unstained, objects can be enjoyed as desired. Thus, understanding the arising that comes from causes. The essence of mind abides in that way. Understanding arising from causes is the heresy of arising. Understanding arising in that way is the heresy of arising. The result being accomplished in that way is the heresy of arising and abiding. Since the cause itself arises falsely, understanding arises falsely. Since false understanding arises, view and meditation arise falsely. The result arises and abides from falsehood. From the Tantra of the Greatly Expanded Jewel, the twenty-sixth chapter on the confusion of nihilistic heretics. The Guhyasamaja Vajrasattva, To the teacher of teachers, Samantabhadra, What are the causes, conditions, blueprint for confusion, View, meditation, conduct, and result of the Shravaka Vaibhashika? The teacher of teachers, Samantabhadra, To the Guhyasamaja Vajrasattva, The very cause of the Shravaka Vaibhashika's confusion is, The power of the body itself, unceasingly appearing in various ways, Not seeing the essence, but only seeing the power.

The view of the Hearers appears in three ways: Various appearances are seen as minute particles. Because it lacks inherent existence, it is seen as indivisible. Because everything is formed from it, it is seen as formed from particles. Because these two are similar and of the same kind, they gather together, Serving as the cause and similar basis for the Hearers. The outer and inner worlds, appearing as two aspects, are also understood to be formed entirely from minute particles. When numerous moving particles gather together, they arise like the appearance of wind. When numerous gathering particles come together, they are formed like the appearance of water. When numerous solid particles gather together, they arise like the appearance of earth. When numerous ripening particles gather together, they are formed like the appearance of fire. Because stable particles pervade everything, when one meditates on round shapes, shrinking and indivisible, all appearances are the appearance of particles. Although the individual characteristics of those particles do not appear, they appear because they gather in unmixed shapes. For example, like a yak's tail or a ne-se grass. The fingers appear in unmixed shapes. There is no appearance that is not understood from this. It is through the clear particles and the dark particles that the appearances of day and night occur. All appearances of sentient beings are also formed from particles. When the clear particle appears in awareness, because it is trapped in the spaces of the arising particles, the five aggregates and so forth appear. Because one particle rests upon another, there is nothing that is not formed from particles. When one knows the characteristics of those particles, that is the view of understanding. Because one steadily meditates on the characteristics of those particles, because one is liberated from the dark particles, because the clear particle itself appears, when one obtains stability in the appearance of those particles, by relying on bathing and cleansing, one desires to purify the habitual tendencies of the arising particles. Because the habitual tendencies of the arising particles are purified, one obtains the fruit of the noble Arhat. From the Great Extensive Jewel Sutra, the twenty-seventh chapter, "The Chapter on the Hearers' Specific Teachings," is complete. The Secret Empowerment of Gathering, Vajrasattva, to the Teacher of Teachers, Samantabhadra, the Hearers' Sutra School's view, the very cause of delusion, and the similar basis of delusion, the view of understanding, as well as the practice of meditation and the fruit of conduct, the Teacher of Teachers, Samantabhadra, the Secret of Gathering
