Thus is great bliss. Thus it was said. From the Precious Lamp, the Second Chapter, which is the Chapter on Showing the Nature of Reality. Then, the Bodhisattva Vajra asked the Teacher, the Great Secret Lord: Since the nature of reality abides as it is, how do the six classes of beings become deluded? What is the essence of delusion? How does the manner of delusion occur? The Great Secret Lord replied to the Bodhisattva Vajra: Listen, Bodhisattva Vajra. From the equality of the nature of reality, delusion arises from the force of not understanding and not knowing. From the delusion of grasping existence in non-existence, wind moves in the state of emptiness. The three, basis, condition, and contradiction, arise from not knowing one's own face and not understanding. From the moving wind, consciousness arises. One experiences in the state of equality of being and non-being. Desire arises in the equality of mind. One experiences clarity through desire. Clarity appears as five colors. The substance of light appears as a condition. From grasping existence in non-existence, one becomes deluded into the six classes of beings. Not knowing the essence of one's own face is like the appearance of form before a blind man. Although it does not exist, it appears wrongly, like grasping yellow on snow. Based on the all-ground consciousness, the ability of the seven aggregates of consciousness appears. Not knowing one's own face is ignorance, like the eyes of an old blind woman. One experiences the essence of self and mine. One grasps the grasper and the grasped, inner and outer. One experiences the suffering of the three realms. One experiences suffering like a wooden puppet. Not knowing one's own face, obscurations arise. Seeking other than oneself, one goes astray. Obscurations of karma and knowledge, going astray with meaningless words, going astray with conceptual views, going astray with abandoning and adopting actions, going astray with meditative attachment experiences. One does not realize that very essence. Having exhausted effort in virtuous actions, worldly cause and effect, the laws of mind, are to be abandoned by force. Attachment to the extreme of desire, since appearance is conditioned by objects, one does not know the essence of the true meaning. One sees wrongly through the delusion of the grasped. All the six classes of beings are tormented by the disease of the three poisons. If one does not know the cause and condition of the disease, one suffers in the state of samsara for a long time. Thus it was said. From the Precious Lamp, the Third Chapter, which is the Chapter on Showing Delusion. Then, the Bodhisattva Vajra asked the Teacher, the Great Secret Lord: What is the instruction on how to reverse delusion? What is the result of empowerment and blessing?
