Now, having entered the gate of the path of attachment, in the realm of the pretas, one experiences hunger and thirst. Even practicing dharma that is satisfied by offerings, due to the ripening of past karma, one experiences the suffering of hunger and thirst, and it is difficult to encounter the true meaning. Having entered the gate of the path of ignorance, in the realm of animals, one engages in foolish and mute behavior. One practices dharma with subtle awareness, but due to the ripening of past karma, one experiences the suffering of being foolish and mute, and it is difficult to encounter the true meaning. Having entered the gate of the path of jealousy, in the realm of humans, one engages in virtuous and non-virtuous actions. Even practicing dharma with virtuous and non-virtuous karma, due to the small amount of virtue here, one engages in impermanent and changing dharma, and it is difficult to encounter the true meaning. Having entered the gate of the path of pride, with the realm and enjoyment of the gods, one cries out the suffering of falling into ignorance. One practices dharma that is accomplished by thought, but due to the ripening of ignorance and laziness, one experiences the suffering of falling, and it is difficult to encounter the true meaning. The three realms are also like this: the desire realm is ignorance, the form realm is attachment, and the formless realm is not truly established. One views the objects of mind in terms of four possibilities, which is the consciousness that experiences each one, and is a delusion that does not see the truth. Due to beginningless habitual tendencies and the absence of the guru's instructions as a condition, one does not understand the mind of the essential nature of non-conceptuality, like a man's body accompanied by a ghost. Thus it is said. From the Secret General Tantra, the eleventh chapter, which explains the characteristics of the delusions of sentient beings in the three realms. Then, Vajrasattva asked the Great Lord of Secrets: Since the characteristics of sentient beings in the three realms are like this, what is the method for liberation from them? After asking, the Great Lord of Secrets replied: Because beings have different inclinations, the many gates of the yanas are taught separately. The two are distinctions of types, therefore two types of yanas are taught: the worldly yana and the transcendental yana. The worldly yana is for all sentient beings who abide in the six realms, holding onto the realm of samsara in the three realms, with attachment to the five desires, the assemblies of samsara in the three realms, etc., become empty and meaningless. Therefore, this meaning should be taught. The two types of extremists, eternalists and nihilists, for the dharmas of virtuous and non-virtuous actions, there are results.

Not understanding, one falls into the extreme of annihilation. Sentient beings who hold to permanence see four modes of existence, seeing the four: self, purity, happiness, and permanence. Not knowing the Dharma of what to accept and reject, not seeing the meaning of no-birth, one falls into the extreme of permanence. Thus it is said. From the General Tantra of Secrets. This is the twelfth chapter, the Vehicle of the World. Then, Vajrasattva asked the Great Secret Lord about the Vehicle that transcends the world. The Great Secret Lord said: The Vehicle that transcends the world is taught by dividing it into two aspects: the Vehicle of Characteristics as Cause and the Vehicle of Vajra as Result. The Vehicle of Characteristics as Cause has three aspects: the Hearers who abandon suffering, the Solitary Realizers who stop craving, and the Sutra School that purifies conceptual thoughts. The Hearers who abandon suffering abandon it through asceticism. The Solitary Realizers who stop craving stop the twelve links of dependent origination of ignorance. The School that purifies conceptual thoughts considers the emptiness of Dharma-nature to be like space, accomplished as it is aimed at, like the eight examples of illusion. The Vehicle of Result also has three aspects: the Class of Action, the Dual One, and the Yoga Tantra. The Action (Tibetan: ཀྲི་ཡ་,梵文天城体:क्रिया,梵文罗马拟音:kriyā,Literal meaning: Action), with eleven-limbed rituals, considers the Body, Speech, and Wisdom of the Victorious Ones. The Practice of the Dual One (Tibetan: ཨུ་པ་ཡ་,梵文天城体:उपाय,梵文罗马拟音:upāya,Literal meaning: Means), practices in Action and cultivates in Yoga, considering it to be cultivated through the door of non-connection. Yogis are of two types: externalist Tirthika yogis, with five enlightenments and four miracles, are considered to be accomplished like a reflection in water. Internalist yogas are of three types: Generation, Completion, and Great Completion. Generation (Tibetan: མ་ཧྭ་ཡོ་ག་,梵文天城体:महायोग,梵文罗马拟音:mahāyoga,Literal meaning: Great Yoga), has three aspects of gradual generation; if one strives diligently without diminishing the implements, one considers the Three Bodies of the Victorious Ones to be Wisdom. Completion (Tibetan: ཨ་ནུ་ཡོ་ག་,梵文天城体:अनुयोग,梵文罗马拟音:anuyoga,Literal meaning: Following Yoga), with the nature of pure causes and conditions, relying only on the essence, completes the Wisdom Mandala with speech. Great Completion (Tibetan: ཨ་ཏི་ཡོ་ག་,梵文天城体:अतियोग,梵文罗马拟音:atiyoga,Literal meaning: Utmost Yoga), does not rely on causes and conditions, and does not cultivate through effort. This Great Completion does not depend on anything, and by this, it completely blesses all the phenomena that are distinguished. Because it abandons all happiness, it completely blesses. Thus it is said.
