How is it? The Teacher of Teachers, Samantabhadra, To the Guhyabhisheka Vajrasattva, From the Dharmakaya's nature of utter emptiness, That which is nothing yet appears as everything, That appearance and the essence of the body, Not seeing them as one but seeing them as distinct, By seeing them as distinct, the very cause of delusion is made. From that very appearance that arises from it, The outer is seen as emptiness, like the sky. Since inner awareness is not established anywhere, That awareness is also seen as like the sky. Awareness itself and the power of awareness, Become the example of the delusion of heretical fools. The essence of awareness abiding in emptiness, And the self-radiance of awareness being without self-nature, The nature of mind abiding in emptiness, And the mind also seeing objects as empty, Those two being similar, of the same kind, and gathering alike, That becomes the example of the delusion of heretics. Since the nature of that mind cannot be found even when sought, Since the essence of that mind is not established in anything, It is realized as being without action and without cause. All the phenomena of appearance, without exception, No matter how they appear, do not stain the mind. The mind and objects are realized as two distinct things. The essence of that mind is unseen and unmeditated upon. Since the mind is unstained, objects are enjoyed as desired. Arising from causes, arising is realized in that way. The essence of mind abides in that way. Realizing arising from causes is the heretic of arising. Realizing arising in that way is the heretic of arising. The result being established in that way is the heretic of arising and abiding. Since the cause itself arises falsely, realization arises falsely. Since realization arises falsely, view and meditation arise falsely. The result arises falsely and abides. From the Great Tantra of the Expanding Jewel, the twenty-sixth chapter, the Delusion of Heretical Fools, is complete. The Guhyabhisheka Vajrasattva, To the Teacher of Teachers, Samantabhadra, What are the cause, condition, and example of delusion, And the view, meditation, conduct, and result of the Shravaka Vaibhashikas? The Teacher of Teachers, Samantabhadra, To the Guhyabhisheka Vajrasattva, The very cause of the delusion of the Shravaka Vaibhashikas is: The power of the body itself, unceasingly appearing in various ways, Not seeing the essence but only seeing the power.

The view of that Hearer appears in three ways. Various appearances are seen as minute particles. Because it has no self-nature, it is seen as having no parts. Because everything is made up of it, it is seen as being made up of particles. These two are similar, of the same kind, and arise from aggregation. They serve as the cause and basis for Hearers. The outer and inner worlds, appearing as two, are also understood to be composed of minute particles. When many moving particles gather, they appear like the appearance of wind. When many collecting particles gather, they are formed like the appearance of water. When many solid particles gather, they arise like the appearance of earth. When many ripening particles gather, they are formed like the appearance of fire. The stable particle pervades everything, and it remains without parts, contracting into a sphere, meditating. All appearances are appearances of particles. Although the characteristics of each particle are not visible, they appear because they gather into shapes without mixing. For example, like a yak tail or a peacock feather. Fingers appear as shapes without mixing. There is no appearance that cannot be understood from this. It is through clear particles and dark particles that the appearance of day and night arises. All appearances of beings are also made up of particles. When the clear particle appears in awareness, because it is contained in the space of the arising particle, the five aggregates and so on appear. Because particles exist on top of each other, there is nothing that is not made up of particles. Knowing the characteristics of that particle is the view of understanding it. By meditating steadily on the characteristics of that particle, one is liberated from the dark particles. Because the clear particle appears, when the appearance of that particle is obtained firmly, by relying on bathing and cleansing, it is thought that the habitual tendencies of the arising particle are purified. Because the habitual tendencies of the arising particle are purified, one attains the fruit of a noble Arhat. From the Great Extensive Jewel Heap Sutra, the chapter on the Hearer Vaibhashikas, the twenty-seventh is complete. The secret empowerment of gathering, Vajrasattva, to the teacher of teachers, Samantabhadra, asked about the view of the Hearer Sutra school, the cause of delusion, and the view of understanding the basis of delusion, and the fruit of the practice of meditation and conduct. The teacher of teachers, Samantabhadra, to the secret of gathering
