The so-called "illusion" means: it is not that one's own body is obscured by the illusion of others. The nature of the so-called "illusion" is: taking what is as what is not, therefore it is an illusion. For example, taking a tall pole as a person, or like a rope being mistaken for a snake. The illusion arising from oneself is: not understanding the body and what arises from the body, but seeing them as appearing separately. Due to the clinging habit, being the same as similar kinds, clinging to duality, therefore it is called illusion. For example, the essence of the sun, which is the light of the sun, is also considered as light and the sun, therefore it is called illusion. This is because it is not understood that they arise from the same source. The illusion arising from external conditions is: the nature of the body is originally not in the external environment, but intentionally clinging to the external environment, therefore it is an illusion. For example, the illusion of water in a mirage, which is seen as water even though it does not exist. The illusion of ignorance as a result is: all phenomena are originally non-dual, but the duality of inner and outer vessel and content appears. Due to this habit, the three realms of samsara appear. Like seeing non-existent hair and moon. From the Great Jewel Extensive Sutra, the eighteenth chapter on the examination of the basis of illusion. The secret lord Vajrasattva, the gatherer, asked the Teacher of Teachers, Samantabhadra: All these appearances called "illusion", from where do they arise? What is their extent? What is their gateway? The Teacher of Teachers, Samantabhadra, taught the secret lord Vajrasattva, the gatherer: Awareness, the self-illuminating awareness that does not move, from which arise various kinds of awareness, are subtle parts of self-born wisdom. From movement and non-movement, only a slight ray of mind moves, from previously not moving, to later moving itself, self-illuminating awareness arises together with light. From the light arising from awareness itself, arises the knowledge that determines "is" and "is not". Light and awareness appear as duality. The light of awareness itself is clung to as an object. Due to the habit of clinging, clinging and looking, therefore it appears as the duality of object and subject. From the Great Jewel Extensive Sutra, the nineteenth chapter on the brief summary of illusion. The secret lord Vajrasattva, the gatherer, asked the Teacher of Teachers, Samantabhadra: The Dharmakaya, self-born wisdom, is without awareness, its qualities are unobstructed, appearing as everything. A part of the qualities, those that appear, the Dharma

Body clear, radiant, unmoving, unchanging, without interruption, Because its qualities appear separately, What are the five colors and five elements that are accomplished? The teacher of teachers, the Primordial Buddha Samantabhadra, To the secret empowerment Vajrasattva of gathering, Brightness is seen as white, Clarity is seen as red, Immovability is seen as blue, Unchangeability is seen as black, Thinking it is earth, the unchanging is grasped as earth, The habit of grasping, solidity, appears as earth, Thinking it is fire, brightness is grasped as fire, The habit of grasping, maturity, appears as fire, Thinking it is water, clarity is grasped as water, The habit of grasping, the act of gathering, appears as water, Thinking it is wind, immovability is grasped as wind, The habit of grasping, the act of moving, is grasped as wind, Without interruption, it is grasped as pure space, The habit of grasping, opening understanding, appears as space, Because these are of the same kind, similar, and their gathering has ceased, The five elements and the five colors also, Arise, arise, and having arisen, abide in, Form, feeling, perception, and, Formation and consciousness also, Are similar and confused from that. Desire, hatred, delusion, and, Pride, jealousy, the five also, The basis of similarity arises from that. Form, sound, smell, and taste, Touch and other objects, Are all confused from one field and karma. From the Great Tantra of Increasing Jewels, The twentieth chapter, the Root of Confusion, is complete. The secret empowerment Vajrasattva of gathering, To the teacher of teachers, the Primordial Buddha Samantabhadra, All these appearances that are accomplished as essence, Male, female, hermaphrodite, their own nature separately, and, Which body is confused, and how is it confused? The teacher of teachers, the Primordial Buddha Samantabhadra, To the secret empowerment Vajrasattva of gathering, That self-born wisdom, the limb of awareness that arises, Because it had not moved before, but moved later, Because that awareness is adorned with light, Without realizing it as an appearance arising from itself, Because the light of appearance is grasped as an object, Because that light is seen as one, it is grasped as form, The grasping itself causes the habit of form to appear, Because it is experienced from the light, it is grasped as feeling, The grasping itself causes the habit of feeling to appear, Because that light is seen as a sign, it is grasped as perception, The grasping itself makes the sign of perception clear, The habit of clarity appears as the nature of perception, Because that light is seen as moving, it is formation.
