Spoke: If the mind is originally non-existent, from where do the various sentient beings arise? If it is said to arise from thought, then the view that the mind does not exist will be undermined. Then enter the immutable pass. Thus it was said. This is the seventieth chapter, which explains the first wheel of weapons. Then, the self-manifested young boy asked the teacher who completely liberated from the limits: How does the second wheel turn? The teacher instructed the retinue: My essence has no substance, and the non-substantial nature itself manifests as various self-manifestations. Thus, for the objects of appearance, both internal and external, the Hearers view them as particles and the duality of grasper and grasped; the Solitary Realizers, through dependent origination and consciousness, consider the appearance of the object without particles to be emptiness; Transcending these are the Mind-Only school, who believe that all appearances of objects are inseparable from the mind, and that the various appearances of white and red are manifestations of the mind itself; Transcending these are the Madhyamikas, who believe that the various appearances of external objects are different from the mind, and view the nature of samsara as the eight similes of illusion, and through observation and analysis, find that it has no self-nature; Transcending these is the Kriya Yoga of the Outer Tantras, who believe that the appearance of external objects is the deities of the three families, and view the ultimate nature as pure Dharmata, and the Upaya path has no fixed doctrine; Transcending these are the Yoga school, who believe that such appearances are the five Buddha families of the relative truth, and the ultimate truth is considered to be without birth or cessation; Among the three Outer Tantras, the Inner Tantras are more superior, the Mahāyoga of the generation stage believes that this existence and peace, appearance is unceasing, appears as deities and consorts, with the nature of skillful means as the way of the generation stage, believes that the deities appear but have no self-nature; In the perfection stage of the nature of wisdom, the ultimate nature is considered to be inseparable from appearance and emptiness; transcending these is the Anuyoga, who do not believe that appearance is deities and consorts, in the Dharmadhatu, the awareness of wisdom appears, the ultimate truth views the Dharmadhatu and wisdom as inseparable; Below these, Atiyoga puts forward three points, action, seeking, effort, accomplishment, below Anuyoga, desire arises for the view without desire, for non-effort accomplishment, accomplishment is achieved through action, seeking, effort, through the practice of mental aspiration, one enters the Dharma gate of conditioned phenomena, dwelling in oneself but seeking outwards, like a blind person seeking the edge of the sky, even after hundreds of kalpas, one cannot attain Buddhahood. Thus it was said. This is the explanation of refuting the eight vehicles.

This is the first chapter. Then, the self-manifested young boy asked the teacher who had completely liberated, "What is the difference between Ati Yoga and Cittayoga? How do these two debate? How does Ati Yoga wield the weapon of debate to refute Cittayoga?" The teacher then addressed the assembly, "Yogis of Ati Yoga, asking about the teachings of Cittayoga, isn't Cittayoga something conceived by conceptual thought, outside of the nine vehicles? If not, then how do we distinguish my Ati Yoga from Cittayoga?" This is Ati Yoga's refutation. The teacher of Cittayoga replied, "Because the minds of sentient beings are inexhaustible, it is said that the teachings are also inexhaustible. To counteract the eighty-four thousand afflictions, so many teachings were given. Minds are of three types: superior, middling, and inferior. From these three, three are further divided, so there are nine. Therefore, the nine vehicles are taught. For those with superior faculties, there is direct transcendence. Cittayoga also teaches the method of direct transcendence. Because faculties differ, the teachings also differ. When one awakens by severing delusion without conceptual thought, there is no teaching and no entering. The liberation of the three vehicles abides in the fruit of one vehicle. From the aspect of abiding, there are nine, but the definitive key instruction arises from one. That one is Cittayoga. Citta extracts the essence of the teachings, and 'ti' shows the tika (藏文:ཏི་ཀ་,梵文:ṭīkā,梵文罗马拟音:ṭīkā,meaning: commentary) of everything. Yoga is the union of view and conduct, and 'ga' shows the decisive abiding in one's own nature. What are the view and meditation of your Ati Yoga? How are conduct and fruition accomplished? How do you regard such appearances? Are there Dharma and Buddhas? What do hell and hungry ghosts mean? Does this mind exist from the beginning or not? If it doesn't exist, where do sentient beings come from? If it exists, how does it abide at that time? Buddhas and sentient beings, these two, are they one or not one at the basis? If they are one, how do samsara and nirvana arise? If they are not one, they become unrelated. If they are unrelated, practice becomes meaningless, like trying to extract oil from sand. If there is a connection, then examine the two connections. First, if the essence is the same, then being deluded and not being deluded are mutually contradictory. If the connection arises from that and that, do sentient beings arise from Buddhas, or do Buddhas arise from sentient beings? If it is like the first case, because there is no delusion, becoming a Buddha also becomes meaningless. If it is like the second case, all sentient beings become Buddhas, and they are liberated without effort. Or they become conceptual thoughts with delusion, and there is delusion at the basis.
