Recitation: With thinking, definite understanding arises; with knowledge, the knowable becomes the path; with meditation, self-abiding in its own place, liberation is the result; Primordially spontaneously accomplished, abiding in the four yogas. Clarifying that very nature, it appears as the condition for yoga. Especially the yoga of prior liberation is the very fruit. With unmixed, completely perfect non-duality, it causes all to be completely liberated without exception. Furthermore, great Bodhisattva, please listen! To the noble one endowed with ten qualities, with a vessel possessing the ability to abandon the four faults of a vessel, know the meaning of the lineage, study the ten limits. Thus it was said. From the Exhaustive Determination of the Knowable, the Mind of Enlightenment, the Third Chapter, Showing the Order of the Ten Natures. Then, again, the Bodhisattva Vajra asked: "O Teacher of Teachers, Samantabhadra! How are the distinctions of noble vessels? How are the ten limits of studying the meaning of the lineage gathered? Bodhisattva Samantabhadra, please explain in detail!" Then, Bodhisattva Samantabhadra spoke to the assembled gathering: "Listen! I will explain well the meaning of what was asked. The noble one is the master of all accomplishments, Perfect in empowerment, having obtained power, skilled in the meaning of the Great Vehicle, Realizing the definitive meaning, having great compassion, Diligent in benefiting beings, skilled in meaning, virtuous in conduct, Having little desire for possessions, delighting in the true meaning. The one endowed with these qualities is the Lama. The one possessing a vessel, having completely abandoned the four faults: That is, taking the essence, being broad-minded, stable, and pure, Abandoning the mouth facing down, being cracked, the bottom being broken, being poisonous. That person of the disciple who possesses the four great vessels, First, when requesting the instructions of definite guidance, In a secret, solitary place, arranging offerings and so on, With that, he generates the perception of the Victorious One, Offering pleasing things, paying homage with respect. Entering the great mandala of the Great Perfection, The ten limits of view, meditation, and conduct, Requesting that all be accomplished with one great method. He considers that one to be the son of the Victorious One, From the tip of his tongue, the instructions of the lineage, Showing the connection of lineage, scripture, oral instruction, and definitive meaning." Thus it was said. From the Exhaustive Determination of the Knowable, the Mind of Enlightenment, the Fourth Chapter, Showing the Order of Requesting Instructions. Then, Samantabhadra, the Mind of Enlightenment, first definitively spoke the order of empowerment: "Primordially spontaneously perfect, the basis of all..."

In the vast mandala, the reason for not distinguishing those who have not received empowerment is: For a blind person who has never seen white, no matter how white is described, he cannot understand. For a child who has not seen the perfect mandala, without generating wisdom, it cannot be understood by speaking. Just as one can understand the white seen by half an eye through description, therefore, the wisdom eye of the Victorious Ones must be opened for him. The great eye of prajna wisdom is inconceivable, originally like being confused as if never seen. The aspect of wisdom is fusion, and there is nothing else besides that. Abide the fusion plainly in the inconceivable equality. In the perfect mandala that encompasses the edges and the center, the four liberations and five wisdoms, etc., are gathered. In the uncorrected Alaya consciousness, the mind is bright and unwavering, which is the Dharmakaya of the Buddhas of the past, present, and future. Knowing this is the wisdom of the Buddhas. By incorporating everything into one consciousness within it, empowering the Dharmakaya with Bodhicitta, the awareness that understands its meaning obtains the empowerment of freedom. Vase empowerment, secret empowerment, and the arising of wisdom, as well as all the oral instructions, this is the complete four empowerments. May the suffering of conceptual thoughts be naturally liberated, allowing for a breath of relief, and be prophesied as the king of all—the Dharmakaya. There are no obscurations here, naturally pure. Because it possesses all merits, there is no need to accumulate, naturally suppressing. Without needing to traverse the bhumis, naturally suppressing the bhumis with power. Without cause and effect, spontaneously accomplishing the supreme fruit. The lower vehicle is the end, and the external manifestation is Dzogchen. The order of empowerment, whether obtained or not, has no difference. Non-existence and emptiness, the only spontaneous accomplishment. View is free from attachment, there is nothing to see. Conduct is free from acceptance and rejection, there is nothing to do. Vows are free from dualistic grasping, there is no need to protect. Samadhi has no object, astonished and plain. Divided into nine vehicles, yet gathered into one point. The king of awareness, freely and spontaneously accomplished. Knowing one is knowing all, the wise are spontaneously accomplished. Inexpressible, free from expression, hearing is spontaneously accomplished. Without action and inaction, oral instructions are spontaneously accomplished. Not taking, not abandoning, the supreme vow of non-attachment. Not passing away, not decaying, if it passes away, then the scriptures will be destroyed. Thus it is said. The Bodhicitta cuts off the boundaries of what is to be known, the teaching of empowerment and vows, the fifth chapter is completed. Then, the Samantabhadra who teaches Bodhicitta, spoke of the order of view, meditation, and action. Bodhisattva Vajra Great Being, please listen well. The proximate cause of samsara is conceptual thought and ignorance.
