Then, the clear-minded young boy asked, "O primordial Buddha Samantabhadra, even if such a result is obtained, how can one attain an unchanging, stable state?" The Teacher then addressed the assembly, saying, "Attain that which is beyond the realm of thought, speech, and mind. Attain the insubstantial Dharmakaya, the empty essence, the unchanging stability that is without cause, condition, birth, or death. In the state of self-luminous radiance, attain the stability of clear mind and self-liberation. In the manifold appearances, there is no grasping; in the absence of memory, there is no action in the mind. Attain the indivisible essence-body, the stability of being undivided and unseparated. Attain the body of ultimate great bliss, the stability of effortless liberation. The profound Dharma has reached its ultimate conclusion, without error. From the root, eliminate the mistaken dualistic grasping. Realize the intention of the primordial Buddha. Manifest the uncreated, self-arising, mind-transcending state of non-self, purity, and impartiality. Attain stability without limitation." Thus he spoke. From the Tantra of the Piled Lamps, the eighth chapter, on attaining the unchanging, stable result. Then, the clear-minded young boy asked the self-existing Samantabhadra, "What are the faults of the lower vehicles?" The Teacher then addressed the assembly, saying, "Although in the very essence of the general essence, there are no faults or virtues, faults arise in the mind that does not realize it. Due to the differences in the faculties of beings, there are nine successive vehicles according to the inclination of the mind. The dissimilar entrances, views, meditations, and results, do not touch upon its faults. In short, I will explain the faults to the assembly. Atiyoga has the faults of vastness and partiality. Anuyoga has the faults of space and wisdom. Mahayoga has the faults of appearance and emptiness. Yoga has the faults of arising and ceasing. Upayoga has the faults of looking up and acting down. Kriya has the faults of the three purifications. Madhyamaka has the faults of the two truths. Cittamatra has the faults of self-awareness and self-illumination. Pratyekabuddha has the faults of dependent origination and awareness. Shravakas have the faults of object, mind, and non-self. Like coral, due to grasping at duality, like the fruit of the Kimpaka, even if it ripens, it will not produce fruit. View, meditation, conduct, result, the grounds and paths are inferior. Our enumeration of faults is endless, like a blind man trying to climb the sky." Thus he spoke. From the Tantra of the Piled Lamps, the ninth chapter, on revealing the faults of the lower vehicles. Then, the clear-minded young boy asked the primordial Buddha Samantabhadra, "The vehicle...

Among the nine vehicles, by what is Dzogchen superior? When thus asked, the Teacher addressed the assembly: My unsurpassed Dzogchen, though without the duality of superior and non-superior, yet by the wisdom of power dissecting words, this Dzogchen, the summit of the nine vehicles, upon the primordially pure Dharmakaya, to act, seek, and strive is unreasonable, this beyond expression, beyond mind, without accomplishment, does not regard the two truths, cuts off the proliferation of dualistic phenomena, therefore the supreme Dzogchen is superior. It transcends the wheel of memory, surpassing the grasping and understanding of consciousness. Transcending thought without memory, it surpasses all ignorant, inanimate things. Not even established as merely unborn, it surpasses all wheels of birth. The movement of mind is self-purified, surpassing all mental discriminations and attachments. All afflictions are completely transcended, surpassing all objects of manifest attachment and difference. Transcending the realm of expression by words, it surpasses all tenets of the vehicles. Not being an object of knowing and practicing, it surpasses all mentally fabricated and contrived dharmas. Transcending the extremes of appearance and emptiness, partiality and attachment, it surpasses all realms of eternalism, nihilism, and wrong views. Being self-liberated from the extremes of afflictions, it surpasses all acceptance, rejection, and ascetic practices. Having abandoned the extremes of karma and habitual tendencies, it surpasses all causes and conditions, and the dharmas of fruition. Transcending the wisdom of cutting off, it surpasses the self-aware, self-illuminating mind. The grounds and paths, the two truths, are truly pure, surpassing the dharmas of abandonment, attainment, and cause. Being liberated from body and wisdom, it surpasses the dharmas of good and bad, hope and fear. Unmade, uncorrected, it is just that, not entering, not contemplating, not meditating. Not seeking, not practicing, without guarding or restraining. Without mandala, deity, offering, or praise. Without empowerment, accomplishment, wish, or result. Transcending the effort of accomplishment, it transcends the dharmas of outer and inner fruits. Primordial purity, spontaneous presence, without certainty, the basis's direction, part, and name are without, surpassing the dharmas of Ati's vastness. Self-arisen wisdom, essence emptiness, surpassing the dharmas of the Mind Series' intention. Samantabhadra's great expanse is limitless, surpassing the meaning of the vast Space Series. Not relying on the key points of body and speech, it surpasses the methods of the Instruction Series. Thus, when anything appears, it is not obstructed in any of them, because the countable fragments are accomplished, all boundaries are liberated in their own place. The direction of self-liberation is not interrupted, in both directions
