The Tantra of the Garland of Lamps of Nectar Essence. In Sanskrit: Amrita Rasa Bindu Dīpa Kuṭa Tantra In Tibetan: The Tantra of the Garland of Lamps of Nectar Essence. Homage to the Primordial Buddha, the Immutable Light. Thus have I heard. At one time, in the expanse of the place of jewels, the sphere of reality, the sky of clear light, the place of self-origination, the palace of the all-basis, clear light and purity, the inconceivable mandala, naturally luminous without obscuration, not interrupted in India, not fallen in any direction, not touched at any boundary, in the temple of pure and clear light of jewels, the first sacred Buddha, inseparable primordial Buddha of the beginning, the nature of Samantabhadra resided. At that time, the retinue of great maturation was also like this: the retinue of self-display of clear light, the retinue of pure clarity, the retinue of self-clarity and self-illumination, the retinue of self-origination and self-dissolution inseparable. Furthermore, the retinue of the display of radiant light, the retinue of all-pervading clear light, the retinue of branch parts, the retinue of characteristic knowledge, the retinue of the moving mind, the retinue of clear mind, the retinue of one's own nature, the retinue of self-origination cutting off elaboration, the retinue of self-awakening, pure, and realizing self-nature. The retinue is perfectly complete. Past, future, and present, the three times are one and without difference. The time is perfectly complete. The king of teachings, Nine Peaks, spoke beyond the mind. Without action, spontaneously perfect, the fruit without practice. The teachings are perfectly complete. At that time, from within the retinue, the young boy of clear nature arose from his seat, prostrated, and respectfully asked: To you, the first sacred Buddha, Samantabhadra, I request the meaning beyond words, without action, and beyond mind, a teaching that cannot be practiced. After asking thus, that first sacred Buddha, remained in the samadhi of self-nature, complete, inseparable, beyond mind, free from elaboration, and without characteristics. Having arisen from that, he spoke thus to the retinue: I will speak of a teaching without action and beyond mind. Retinue, listen respectfully without distraction. Although the essence of the heart has no birth or death, I will speak to the son of the awareness of self-originating power. The essence of reality gathers...

In that which is beyond expression, I shall explain the Lamp of Nectar Quintessence, Layered. The dharma that is explained is terminology. I shall explain a dharma that is beyond expression. The dharma that is made is compounded. I shall explain a dharma that is unmade and self-arisen. The dharma of action and effort is striving. One needs a dharma that is without action, free from striving. Dharma fabricated by the mind has no ultimate end. I shall explain a dharma that is beyond mind, ultimate. The dharma of accomplishment is hope, doubt, and longing. I shall explain a dharma that is primordially existent, abiding in its own place. I shall explain the ultimate of exhaustion at the point of exhaustion. I shall explain a dharma of knowing one thing, all are liberated. I shall explain a dharma of one sign, all signs are liberated. I shall explain a dharma of one key point, all key points are liberated. I shall explain a dharma of mind exhausted, erected at the primordial ground. I shall explain a dharma of no action, primordially abiding, the essence. Thus he spoke. From the Tantra of the Lamp of Nectar Quintessence, Layered: The first chapter, on perfection and the basis of discussion. Then, the pure-minded young boy asked the Primordial Buddha: How is the abiding of the nature of phenomena? How are the six realms if the abiding is not realized? How is samsara cut off from its root? By what means is it realized, and how? If realized, how will the fruit be obtained? Having obtained it, how is unchanging stability obtained? What faults are there in the lower realms? Among the nine stages, which is the most excellent? Which mandala is free from bias, without empowerment? Which deities are invoked for activity, and what is the offering and praise? How are the accomplishments, vows, and aspirations? How is everything completely perfected without confusion? What is unmade, self-arisen, without action, without speech? How is the vehicle beyond expression and beyond mind taught? How is the one dharma of knowing one thing, all are liberated? How are all key points freed by knowing one key point? How is one sign known as all signs? Please bestow profound teachings upon us! Thus he asked. From the Tantra of the Lamp, Layered: The second chapter, on the assembly's inquiry. Then, the pure-minded young boy asked the Primordial Buddha: What is the reality of the nature of phenomena? Thus he asked. Then, that Primordial Buddha remained in equipoise in the samadhi of various luminous spheres blazing with light. Having arisen from that, he spoke: Listen, pure-minded young boy, from the assembly.
