Grant the oral instructions. Body and speech without searching, mind without wavering, Grant the oral instructions like the surface of water. To whatever outer and inner phenomena are shown, Grant the oral instructions to initiate awareness. To the ordinary yet powerful senses, Grant the pith instructions to ripen in a single moment. To the suitable, subtle, and attentive, May conduct as meditation be shown. Furthermore, whatever and whatever it may be, Grant the oral instructions for that and that. If the pleasing objects, body and life, Are not relinquished with a miserly mind, Then since that one lacks the vessel for oral instructions, Not even a single word is shown. Possessing the nature of love and compassion, Possessing empowerment and samaya, Skillful in means, great in miraculous power and blessing, Profound and able to withstand obstacles, without disturbance, Effortless, awareness ripens into space, Completely severing distraction and hope and fear, Possessing the treasury and wealth of the holy ones, Supremely accustomed to the oral transmission, Skilled in the general infusion of Brahma's empowerment, This is the prophesied teacher. No matter how accustomed one is to speaking about meaning, If one does not possess vajra samaya, Then even that vajra master, Will certainly be born in the lower realms. The characteristics of a vajra disciple are, Having faith and samaya, and compassion, Having a good nature and not being angry, Able to practice, abandoning stinginess, And a mind that is stable, unchangeable like gold. Entrust this to one certainty, Do not increase it from two. To one without faith, with great attachment, And to one without faith, wrathful and of bad nature, To one who delights in words of fame and praise, To a person without compassion, Do not propagate or teach. From the Great Tantra of the Mind of Enlightenment, the Space-like Expanse, The twelfth chapter, showing examples and ways of entering. Then, furthermore, what is to be explained, In the mandala of the pure mind, The nature of conceptual thoughts of characteristics, The way of appearance, the ultimate view. Self-arisen, without grasping at objects of thought, In the state of equality, without duality, without fabrication, In the state of awareness that is nothing at all, Not awareness, not non-awareness. With an impartial, loving, equal, and expansive mind, In the wheel of self-arisen awareness, Abide in a way that is without abandoning or taking. Heart essence, equality, the supreme secret, Profound, free from elaboration, without beginning or end, Completely free from the notion of emptiness, The expanse of the unmoving hero, Do not think about what is thought with understanding. Since all are sealed with the absence of means, The heart essence of heart essence, the supreme body, M

In the pure expanse of wisdom, it does not abide in any form of attachment. It is not conceptualization; it is suchness itself. The realm of the uncreated is the very expanse of space. The mind that is free from seeking has no essence. The grasping of characteristics transcends the realm of objects. In the essence that is utterly unconditioned, there is no bottom or end through practice and examination. The innermost secret has no location. Wonderfully profound, it has no beginning or middle. The treasure of secret, unchanging essence is the self-arisen awareness perfected in meaning. In the single wisdom of the three times, it is free from the path of terminology and imputation. Because it is free from thought and non-thought, all is the supreme, self-arisen essence. In the essence of unelaborated enlightenment, there is no fabrication of characteristics or words. The nature of appearance, sound, and existence is the self-arisen mind, the pure form. The nature of the mind that discriminates is that it appears as it is examined. Although there are many appearances of change, the essence itself does not change. Because it is examined by examination, the meaning is not seen. Like water stirred by conditions, although deluded consciousness is seen, all that is established in reality is empty. The nature of primordial emptiness is the realm of the all-creating awareness, the expanse of space. Like the nature of clouds and sky, it is seen in such a way. The nature of such clarity is obscured by the power of non-realization. That very essence is complete in non-duality. It is the essence of all Buddhas and the basis of all sentient beings. The essence that is thus unmoving is self-luminous, without clinging to scriptures. In the self-luminous, unconditioned, ever-present state, the sudden conceptualizations of fabrication are like obscurations and darkness in the sky. That very essence is the self-arisen principle. Whatever is sought by the mind of desire and attachment is a knot made by cutting off. The play of Samantabhadra arises in any way, clear like stars scattered in the sky. The essence of the all-creating space abides in the nature of the uncreated Great Perfection. In the nature of self-arisen awareness, it is clear in everything and yet is nothing. Like the yellowness in a conch shell, it is the appearance of being considered existent in non-existence. In the nature where things do not abide, holding onto abiding is the eighth stage. Like a child being led by the hand, it shows the meaning of straightening out wrong thoughts. To decide whether delusion exists or does not exist on the ground is like searching for the edge of the sky. The appearance of wrong examination, and the appearance of unconditioned nature, and appearing to the discriminating mind.
