Knowing equally with the expanse of the sky, In the way of the complete manifestation of self-illuminating wisdom, Because the obscurations of the edges are self-illuminating, The mandala of the self-arisen sun is clear. It is taught in the precepts of detached completion, With self-aware wisdom, possessing knowledge, Realizing the completion in the non-dual essence. Self-illuminating wisdom is fully possessed, Awareness dawns as self-appearance in experience. In the mandala of self-arisen light, By communicating the symbolic meaning of awareness through symbolic letters, Meeting the symbolic meaning of the unborn realm. The great meaning of the unsearched small gathering, The precious treasure of self-arisen wisdom. The means of entering through many doors is inconceivable. If realized, it is the meaning of abiding in oneness, The precepts of the great skillful means lineage, Dawns like the light of the self-illuminating sun, Ripening in the expanse of all-pervading awareness. This self-arisen, self-illuminating awareness, Is the precept of the all-pervading bodhichitta. From the heart center of Vajrasattva, Nine cuckoos of awareness sing, For the sake of seeing the self-illuminating nature of mind, The nine spaces are clarified in twenty thousand sections. That very ninefold basis of mind, The precious heap is the door of illusion. In the treasure house of the precious heap, It has always existed like the light of the sun. Thus it was said. From the tantra equal to the limit of space, The chapter on the self-arising of wisdom, the second. Then, the bodhisattva Vajra Damapa requested the great Vajrasattva, saying: Forefather of all the victorious ones, The secret, most secret bodhichitta, A precious house with many doors, For the sake of realizing through the self-illuminating door, In the essence of great bliss, effortless, The way to explain, what is to be explained, the meaning of the result, Complete in the meaning of self-illuminating awareness, Please explain, all-pervading great holder. Thus he requested. Then, the Thus-Gone One Vajrasattva spoke these words: O great bodhisattva! The supreme tantra without letters, Without writing, devoid of color and form, The tantra equal to the limit of space, This treasure that gathers all secrets, There are three ways of explaining, the three great perfections, Abiding in the manner of ground, path, and fruit. Because it is the ultimate of all intentions, It is explained in the manner of the intention bursting forth. Because the root of the oral instructions is gathered here, It is explained like the shaking of oral instruction testaments. The root of the nine spaces is the space of mind itself, It is explained in the space of the ocean without scattering. From the empty clarity of the mind of Kunsang, Because self-arisen play is unceasing,

It is taught like the arrangement of stars in the sky. Pervading the sky, it is the supreme of all minds. Therefore, it is taught with five common meanings. Because it is the supreme gathering of all tantras, Therefore, it is taught with five perfections. Ultimately, on the nature of knowable things, There are common and uncommon aspects, The common characteristic is the way fame appears. Fame is straying and obscuring, Namely view, conduct, meditation, vows, As well as accomplishment and activity, empowerment and offering, Mandalas, grounds, paths, and the ten fruits. Not understanding self-grasping, grasping and grasped, As well as truth and falsehood, distinguishing good from bad, Speech and dualistic actions, purity and impurity, All that is bound by acceptance, rejection, and obscurations. Arise from straying paths, obscured paths, straying obscurations. From the beginning, in the self-luminous secret Dzogchen, Divide into seeing and not seeing. From the beginning, in the aimless self-luminous, Bound by grasping at self and other. On the vajra free from arising and ceasing, Mistaken by grasping at cause and effect as related. On the Dzogchen of non-duality, The path of falsely conceiving differences. On this treasure of non-dual self-awareness, Dividing the two truths contradicts oneness. On the self-luminous aimless emptiness, Accomplishing it contradicts aimlessness. The view of freedom from bondage has no attachment. Attachment to freedom from attachment is the highest delusion. On the unconditioned wisdom self-luminous, The dharmas of delusion are space and wisdom. On the purity that is precious from the beginning, Effort in the three purities is mistaken. On the wisdom mandala free from generation, Generation and stages of effort are great yoga. Seeking separates from the spontaneously arising treasure. On the heap of wisdom jewels, Blessings, appearances, desires, hope, and doubt, Contradict the meaning of self-appearance, samsara, and nirvana. This precious wheel, all good, The six realms, self-luminous, abide in the heart. Clear awareness, free from grasping, ripens into space. Having dissolved, it becomes invisible from clarity. The blessing of the self-luminous sun is, Unsought light spreads in the ten directions. And the explanation of the fourteen distinctions, And the nature of all dharmas is the nature of mind, Because it does not change with extreme or wrong views, Therefore, all of Dzogchen, Is taught to be like a clear and stable mountain. Although permanence, annihilation, and characteristics may appear, Because there is no narrowness or wideness in the mind, Therefore, it is taught to be like the expanse of the sky. All dharmas arise clearly, equally, and without seeking, The power of self-luminous awareness is complete, Therefore, it is taught to be like the sunrise in the sky. Sentient beings, Buddhas, and so on, The great perfection without mixing happiness and suffering, Is like the nature of gold
