The root of Na is, to know and cherish what is allowed and forbidden. Furthermore, listen to the essence of gathering. The samaya to be realized is, just as a son cannot arise without a mother, from the Dharmakaya within the Kunzhi (alaya), not seeking the Buddha is the samaya, recognizing that itself is enough for realization. Just as one cannot find a shadow by abandoning the form, beyond abandoning the five poisons, there is no other Buddha. Not abandoning the five poisons is the supreme samaya. Just as being smeared with gold-transforming essence, if one understands the meaning of the nature of the five poisons, it will be clear in the Dharmakaya of no abandonment and no acceptance, from that there will be no change, samsara will not exist. Just like the example of killing poison with a mantra, if one understands the meaning of the self-liberation of the five poisons, then there is no need to deliberately meditate, that is the samaya, there is no need to meditate with the mind's thoughts. Just as one does not need to work after finding a precious jewel, similarly, understanding the meaning is the supreme samaya. Because it is a Dharma that does not need to be meditated upon, therefore not meditating will not lead to loss or straying. Now listen again to Vajrasattva, those methods of realization, the samaya is also, the root is this very mind of oneself, it is not to be found elsewhere, if one realizes self-awareness, that is the supreme samaya. The Great Perfection, all definitive meanings gathered, from the tantra equal to the wisdom space, the thirty-sixth chapter, which teaches the samaya to be realized. Then, to the assembled retinue, the all-knowing teacher, the Dharma Lord, bestowed the samaya to be explained, like the fruit of the eye, to the Vajra Master who possesses the lineage, cherish the loving samaya constantly, attain the supreme accomplishment of definitive meaning. Now listen again to the essence of gathering, like protecting one's own body, to the Dharma friends who have the same definitive meaning, if one does not separate from compassion and shows respect, accomplishments, long life, and enjoyment will increase. Like one's own heart, the samaya instructions are not mistaken, do not spread them to those who are not vessels, deliberately guarding, whatever is thought will be accomplished. Like the melodious sound of the Kalaviṅka, for the definitive meaning of one's own view, meditation, and conduct, constantly without separation, especially, protect the samaya of wakefulness. Without throwing the true view to external conditions, for the definitive instructions that possess the lineage, whatever magic of demons may arise, cherish remembering the instructions that subdue them. Like Niti not clinging to his son, from the confidence of the samaya holder who possesses the samaya, because one knows the eight dharmas of abandoning and not abandoning, therefore there is no need to deliberately cling to the antidote. That is also Vajra

Ah, listen, brave ones! Those vows of special conduct, their root lies in the union of body, speech, and mind. Therefore, the nine root vows are the foundation of all Dharmas. The Great Perfection, the entirety of definitive meaning is gathered here. From the tantra that is equal to the wisdom sky, the chapter on explaining the vows of special conduct, is the thirty-seventh. Then, to the assembled gathering, the all-knowing teacher, the Dharma Lord, bestowed the vows of protection. Just as a monkey fights a tiger, the Vajra Master and the enemy of the body, should not be befriended, if one protects this, one will attain the siddhi of the precious body. Just as seeing a poisonous thing, with the black goddess and those who break vows, fighting and striking should not cease, thus obstacles will not arise, blessings will come. Just as recognizing poison and not eating it, if one does not eat the meat of round hooves, the pure lineage of Brahmins will be protected, the Dakinis will bestow common siddhis. Just as gold and sand are not exchanged, if one does not exchange the six tantras of definitive meaning with other stolen Dharma teachings, one will attain the siddhi of mind, attaining Buddhahood. Just as butter adheres to white silk, if one abandons killing children and male prostitutes, and the lust of sexual desire, the pure retinue and Dharma protectors will protect. Now, Vajrasattva, listen! Those vows of protection, their root lies in contentment and few desires. Therefore, if one knows there is no attachment, then there will be no obstacles, one will attain siddhis. The Great Perfection, the entirety of definitive meaning is gathered here. From the tantra that is equal to the wisdom sky, the chapter on explaining the vows that should be protected, is the thirty-eighth. Then, the all-knowing teacher again spoke to the assembled gathering about the vows that should be abandoned. If a yogi possesses definite teachings, then one must firmly and unshakably protect the vows one has taken. For ordinary sentient beings, those who hold vows should abandon killing. Even something as small as a sesame pod, one should not take what is not given. Yogis should abandon the thought of stealing the wealth of humans and non-humans. Just as touching a poisonous thing, for the wife of another who possesses the five protective goddesses, even the thought of lust should not arise, those who hold the yogic vows should abandon it. Just as the breath from the mouth is poisonous, for the lies of human Dharma teachers, etc., one should abandon speaking by changing one's own intention. These four roots are the delusions of samsara.
