Because of little diligence, there is no loss, so wicked thieves rise up again and again. Because of not having definite confidence, one is deceived and falls by the distracting demons. Furthermore, listen, Vajrasattva. The demons of meditation are also those that occur to those without instructions. Those with transmission cannot be harmed. What is meditated without understanding becomes a demon. From the Tantra of the Great Perfection, the Wheel of Spontaneous Bliss Gathering Meaning, the chapter on showing the demons of samadhi, the forty-third. Furthermore, listen, Vajrasattva. The demons of activity, busyness, and enjoyment, the attachment to pleasure is the demon of place, the qualities of learning are the demons of distraction, mental confusion, and evil retinue demons all arise. Furthermore, listen, Vajrasattva. If one dwells in solitude, faithful ones gather. The demon of enjoyment and busyness enters, abandoning samadhi and grasping the minds of others. At that time, one desires meaningless wealth and food, and with desire, one engages in the dharma of signs. Abandoning the meaning of meditation, one becomes a demon of distraction, arguing with worldly people, deceived and falling by the demon of busyness. Furthermore, listen, Vajrasattva. In a place that pleases oneself, there are auspiciousness, no ghosts, gods, and fierce spirits. The demon of one's own desire and attachment enters, abandoning samadhi and building pleasure. Saying that protectors do not allow one to go elsewhere, thus being self-righteous, one is contrary to meaning, one's own mind is attached and becomes a demon, deceived and falling by other demons. Furthermore, listen to the essence of gathering. For the wise yogi who wants to meditate, the demon of distraction enters his mind. Abandoning samadhi because of others' praise, he preaches dharma, practices medicine, and does crafts. Attachment arises for desired objects, saying that it is for the sake of others to attain enlightenment, but intentionally doing distracting activities. Because it is contrary to meaning, one is self-deceived and falls. Furthermore, listen, Vajrasattva. Because the yogi is troubled by an evil retinue, the demon of mental confusion enters his mind, wanting the evil retinue to be without contentment, ungrateful and creating conflict. At that time, he slanders those who have lost faith, spreading rumors and giving rise to hatred, deceived and falling by the demon of evil retinue. Furthermore, listen to the essence of gathering. The demons of behavior are also those that arise from attachment to the eight worldly dharmas. Therefore, one pursues distraction, willingly transmigrating, self-deceived and falling. In the Tantra of the Condensed Self-Arisen Blissful Wheel, the forty-fourth chapter, which explains the demons of conduct. Furthermore, listen to the essence of the Condensed. The demons of worldly dakini prophecies, the demons of clinging to experience, the demons of hypocrisy and desire, the demons of lust and increasing bliss, the demons of disbelief and slanderous hatred, the demons of pride and exaggeration, all arise. Furthermore, listen, assembly of the Condensed. When a yogi meditates with equal contemplation, manifesting in the body of a goddess, not staying in caves, for the sake of benefiting beings, speaking of the merits of benefiting others. At that time, the demon of the dakinis enters, abandoning samadhi and engaging in benefiting others, naming it Dharma and doing all sorts of things, but because it is separate from meaning, one is deceived by demons and falls. Furthermore, listen, assembly of the Condensed. For a yogi meditating with meaningful purpose, experiencing profound and subtle details, because the great meaning of the view is not grasped, the demon of clinging to quiescence enters, and because there is no ability to resist obstacles, there is increase and decrease. Because of latent ignorance, not knowing the self-aware Dharmakaya, one without view is deceived by demons and falls. Furthermore, listen to the essence of the Condensed. All individuals who meditate without meaning, in those who are faithless, hypocritical, and hollow, the demon of sweet words and malicious intent enters, striving for virtue in order to lead others, calling it secret without instructions, and because they deceive themselves, they are entered by demons and fall. In the future, they will be born as hungry ghosts with large bellies. Furthermore, listen to the essence of the assembly. Yogis of skillful means without view, clinging to the bliss of the third empowerment, clinging to the four joys, the demon of lust and craving enters, gathering men and women to engage in sexual activity, saying that samadhi increases through sexual activity, therefore saying that one must rely on empowerment, and they are deceived by the demon of attachment and fall. Furthermore, listen, Vajrasattva. For yogis with definitive scriptural authority, because of hoping to compete together, the demon of contemptuous hatred enters, attacking others with their own faults, slandering those with instructions, unable to harm the yogis, therefore those who break their vows fall themselves, and in the future, they will fall into the hot hells. Furthermore, listen to the essence of the Condensed. Yogis with definitive meaning, towards the definitive and correct teachings, exaggerating in order to denigrate individuals, saying that human words are mixed up and spreading it widely, the demon of pride
