In essence, to summarize: The afflictions and karmic imprints of sentient beings are like the vastness of the earth. A single speck of dust within the earth is like the precious essence of gold. The method of searching for gold from the earth is like identifying it through the method of water flow. Victorious Samantabhadra, I, having summarized the essence of all dharmas, will raise the lamp of wisdom that clearly illuminates the definitive meaning without error. May the six realms of sentient beings not lose hope, and may the deluded not lose heart. Faithful yogis, gather around me, and I will guide you to the path of desiring enlightenment. Establish a clear view of the Great Vehicle, and I will purify the obscurations that have not been purified. I will accomplish Buddhahood now, without having practiced, and I will perfect the two accumulations here, without having accumulated. Buddhahood is my dharma, without having meditated, and it is spontaneously accomplished, without having sought. For the yogi who has realized Dzogchen, even committing misdeeds becomes a great glory. I will surely explain that meaning, and may all those of inferior intellect be uplifted. There is no need for hearing and thinking; the teachings are sufficient. There is no need for habituation; knowing is sufficient. Without separating from the body of ripening karma, may you become equal to all Buddhas. Listen, Vajrasattva. That great quality of wisdom is like the expanse of space, transcending the mind of measuring and estimating. The gate of the vehicle transcends expression. The teachings of the Tripitaka cannot be fully explained. The Tripitaka itself is merely a designation. Although there are countless such distinctions, the essence of the meaning is only one. I will clearly explain that meaning, so listen well and keep it in mind. Having understood the meaning of those words, the assembly rejoiced and accepted it, and with genuine reverence, they listened to the unerring truth of the Dharma. From the Tantra of the Great Perfection, the Spontaneous Wheel of Bliss that Gathers the Meaning, the thirteenth chapter, which teaches the praise of the assembly. Then, that all-knowing teacher spoke these definitive root verses: "The nature of the ground of being, the view, meditation, conduct, and the meaning of the fruit, the qualities of realization in this very moment, I will explain how they are manifestly accomplished, listen! The nature without an object, the spontaneously arisen body, unaffected by samsara and nirvana, primordially arisen. That meaning is inherently present in all, like space because it is uncompounded. Listen also to the essence of accumulation, like a great garuda soaring. For those with a confident view of certainty, no matter what appears as phenomena of samsara and nirvana, the grasper and the grasped

Thoughts have no basis. Like what is obtained in Magadha. Because of realizing the nature of view, Without meditating on whatever arises, the nature of reality is clear. Without abiding or arising, it continuously remains. Like whatever is done by Visha is good. In all yogic conduct, The root of wisdom is grasped by meaning. It is not stained by the fault of faults. Like the qualities of a wish-fulfilling jewel, Because of realizing the meaning of one's own mind as the Dharmakaya, In a human body, one encounters the Buddha's mind. The Rupakaya arises from the power for those to be tamed. Listen, Vajrasattva, to that also. Those essences are one and one, Although the expressions of words are different.

Unobstructed and constantly abiding. The very essence of enlightenment, Without attainment and without abandonment. The clinging to both samsara and nirvana, Is merely a term, not the actual meaning. All dharmas Are completely pure in characteristics, In selflessness, there is no birth or death. In the essence of reality, there is no need for meditation, Transcending the extremes of existence and non-existence. Its meaning is the naturally radiant light, Primordially pure, like the sky. From the Gyü of the Great Perfection, the Spontaneous Bliss Wheel of Meaning United, the Fifteenth Chapter: Showing the State of Being of Meaning Without Appearance. Also, Vajrasattva, listen! In the root of self-awareness, the Dharmakaya, Qualities are complete without remainder. The self-born Buddha, the wisdom body, The uncreated, completely perfect, accomplished deity. The source of all dharmas, Its essence is without object, beyond expression. With the ultimate perfection of true view, It has always abided on the other shore. The Buddha of all Buddhas, Turns the helm of all beings. In the fruit of the uncreated, Miracles arise without effort. All that arises is my power, Therefore, Vajrasattva, listen! The basis of the unchanging view in meaning, The self-born body, not dependent on objects. Wisdom is equal to the expanse of the sky, The unchanging Bodhicitta at the base. Memory is not stained by faults, The expansive body without change or movement. The unborn, unceasing realm of self-awareness, Cannot be found through habituation, because it is unchanging. Inseparably, now, it is my heart, Even wandering for eons, there is no birth or death. Realizing that is the basis of all awareness, The wisdom perfected without cultivation. Because there is no expectation, there is no possibility of falling, The primordially unchanging wisdom body. From the Gyü of the Great Perfection, the Spontaneous Bliss Wheel of Meaning United, the Sixteenth Chapter: Showing the Unchanging Nature of the Base. Then, listen, all you assembled retinue! The self-born essence body, Within the bodies of all sentient beings, That self-aware king is wisdom. It has always abided in one's own mind. Therefore, Vajrasattva, listen! The truly certain Dharmakaya, Is not established as a thing, beyond objects. That very continuity of awareness, Abides in the minds of all six realms of beings. The unborn wisdom, the self-born body, Naturally clear without deliberate effort. That very self-awareness alone, Is unmodifiable, like the sky. The basis of all sentient beings, the base
