The four cliffs are: The Bodhicitta without acceptance or rejection, Is said to be the Yoga of a Bodhisattva. The Bodhicitta beyond effort and striving, Is said to be the Great Yoga. The Bodhicitta beyond cause and effect, Is said to be the Perfect Yoga. Because it transcends affirmation and denial, I call it the Utmost Yoga. For the first three, the Perfect Yoga and so on, Because they do not possess the greatness of self-arisen wisdom, They must travel on the path and train on the levels. By keeping vows and precepts, and practicing view and meditation, There are fast and slow paces, and differences in view and conduct. Therefore, the view and conduct of the Utmost Yoga, Is done by the Primordial All-Creating One himself, Therefore, one does not travel on the path or practice on the levels. One does not keep vows, or practice view and meditation. Because everything arises from the path of Great Bodhi, Therefore, Bodhi does not travel in Bodhi. Because there is no place to travel other than Bodhi, Therefore, Bodhi does not train in Bodhi. The nature of vows is Bodhi itself, Therefore, Bodhi does not keep vows in Bodhi. The nature of meditation is Bodhi itself, Therefore, Bodhi does not meditate on itself. The object of view is Bodhi itself, Therefore, Bodhi does not look at itself. This inaction of view and conduct in the Utmost Yoga, Is the pace of self-arisen wisdom, with fast and slow steps. It is the pace of me, the All-Creating King. It is not the realm of practice for those with causal vehicles. Thus it was said. The eighth chapter, on the placement of all objects of Dharmata from the nature of Dharmata, from the Mind of Bodhi, the All-Creating King. Then, the Mind of Bodhi, the All-Creating King, spoke of how the vehicle of cause and effect, through mistaken paths, deviates from the Great Perfection and becomes an obscuration. O Great Bodhisattva! This very nature of the Mind of Bodhi, Is the essence of all Dharmas without exception, Unborn and completely pure, therefore without obscuration. Free from the path of travel, therefore without deviation. Primordially spontaneously accomplished, therefore without searching. The essence of all Dharmas is one in the Mind of Bodhi. By enumerating distinctions in the one, deviation and obscuration arise. By traveling where there is no travel, deviation arises. By looking without aim, one does not see, and obscuration arises. Thus is Suchness.

Above all being one, desiring to achieve the result in the future by practicing the cause, desiring to attain the ten bhumis through the ten perfections, one is lost and obscured for three kalpas. Even if the vows and samayas of the five enlightenments and the limbs of miraculous powers are purified in accordance with the three types of inner and outer purification, one is still lost and obscured for seven lifetimes. To practice on the cause and to look at the result is to see the two views and practices as separate, and in the non-dual, one is lost and obscured for three lifetimes. To accept and reject on one essence is because one does not see it as one but sees it as two, one is lost and obscured until one is free from acceptance and rejection. By meditating on the three aspects of one self-arising, one should declare that one has strayed from the teaching of effortless. How all phenomena appear and exist, if one does not realize that the essence is suchness, because one looks at the cause and effect of the realm and wisdom, because of the fabrication of the cause and the imputation of the result, one is obscured from the separation of exaggeration and denigration until belief. The six types of wanting to attain a non-existent result are: attaining the cause through the two truths, attaining the result through practicing the three purities, wanting to attain through separate views and practices, wanting to attain through practicing acceptance and rejection, wanting to attain through meditating on the three awarenesses, and wanting to attain through looking at the cause and effect, the realm of reality, and wisdom. There are six types of definite attainment that one wants to attain. There are six places of straying and six times six obscurations. Since it is a fault of straying and obscuring from the mind of enlightenment, one should clearly explain the faults and merits of the six definite attainments. Discrimination and investigation are also places of straying and obscuration. Grasping and being grasped are also said to be places of straying. View and practice are also said to be places of straying and obscuration. View, practice, acceptance, rejection, effort, accomplishment, cause, effect are transcended. In the great bliss of non-effort, all are lost and obscured. The mind of enlightenment is like the sky. On the mind-nature, the dharma-nature, which is like the sky, there is no meditation by view, no need to keep vows, no need to seek activity, no obscuration of wisdom, no need to practice on the ground, and no path to travel. Subtle, there are no dharmas, no duality, no connection. There is no definite statement from the mind. Because it transcends exaggeration and denigration, there is no repetition in the oral instructions. This is the view of the Great Perfection, the mind of enlightenment. When six types of meditation arise on the one without view, therefore straying and therefore obscuring, the straying and obscuration of view arise. On the one without protection, the vows.
