Because they are recognized fleeting thoughts, relax and let them go. If you become increasingly caught up in discursive thoughts, you will become frustrated. If you feel like you can't meditate, that's okay. The first experience is like water on a steep mountain, which the Kagyu tradition calls being swayed by the waves of one-pointed thoughts, which is the early stage of one-pointedness. Increase patience on that and meditate, stay in that stage. Sometimes thoughts are like a bird in the water, sometimes diving into the water and sometimes coming out. Sometimes it's like one hand resting on a stone. This is how the second experience arises. If you continue to meditate, after a while, sometimes thoughts wander, but most of the time it seems to stay still. Like an old man, mostly sitting. This is how the third experience arises. If you continue, after a while, like water in a pipe, the wandering of thoughts becomes imperceptible. Even at this time, you must maintain mindfulness and alertness. This is how the fourth experience arises. If you continue, after a while, the mind no longer wanders anywhere, it stays still day and night, and the desire for meditation and clothes does not arise. Without wavering, you can spend days or even months, like a mountain. If this goes wrong, if you push too hard, you will go towards the cessation of the Shravakas. If done well, you will gain physical pliancy and reach the peak of Shamatha. This is how the fifth experience arises. These are also mainly based on the main aspects. The order of chakras and senses may not be the same for everyone. If so, the person with the dullest senses may gradually progress, but for the medium and dull ones, staying still is difficult to arise. Keep the body posture as before. In front, at a distance of one cubit in front of the brow, erect a small wooden stick. Focus the mind, concentration, and breath on that. Just to have a support so that the mind does not wander. If you push too hard, you will become frustrated. If you relax too much, the meditation will fail, so be moderate, shorten the meditation sessions, and increase the number of sessions. Then gradually lengthen the meditation sessions and reduce the number of sessions. If the mind becomes stable, visualize a white "Ah" (Tibetan: ཨ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Literal Chinese meaning: None) on the top of that wooden stick, and then meditate as before. Then gradually change the object of visualization from white to yellow, etc., and stay on each object of visualization for one day or three days, etc., until you do not feel bored, and then meditate as appropriate. Alternatively, place a small stone in the place of the wooden stick, and then gradually meditate as before. Then, visualize letters in the three places of your own body, and in the inner throat and heart, etc.

By meditating with a focus on any object, such as bindu, gradually, the abiding will become stable. Moreover, one should not be impatient, but gradually accustom oneself to it, and it is important not to be annoyed. In this stage of calm abiding, it is said that one should not fall into a state of oppression, and one should not deviate from the previous way of abiding, just like a sword-swirling warrior entering the battlefield. That is, if the sword-swirling warrior does not lose focus for even a moment, he can use his sword to block the archer's arrows, preventing them from hitting him. If (the sword-swirling warrior) loses focus for even a moment because of greed for the beauty of a beautiful girl, he will be shot by an arrow and be on the verge of death. "The arrow hit me because of distraction. From now on, all sword-swirling warriors, do not lose focus for even a moment! If you lose focus, you will lose your life like me." After saying that, he died. Just like this example, it is important not to be distracted. Now, I will explain insight. Insight is prajnaparamita. Without insight, one cannot progress on the paths and bhumis, and the other paramitas are like having no eyes. Gampopa said that someone was able to sustain seven days with one samadhi. Milarepa said that this is like mistaking a meditator for Shantideva's samadhi. There are three types of insight: The insight that distinguishes all dharmas refers to the insight that can understand all the intentions of all sutras and tantras without any inversion. The insight of how to understand the original face of the mind, which is naturally pure, is what is being taught and practiced now. Through familiarizing oneself with this, the insight that can directly realize the original face without any inversion arises at the time of attaining the fruit of Buddhahood. Now, although it is said that conceptual thoughts are equal abiding, just like in the case of calm abiding, it is enough to just recognize this. Even if various conceptual thoughts arise, just abide in the state of recognizing them. In short, whatever arises, whatever happens, just abide in the state of recognizing it. After meditating, there is nothing to meditate on. If you look at it from the perspective of antidote, no matter what kind of effort you make, you cannot transcend the cause and effect of samsara. That is, the aspect that is not conducive to samadhi is conceptual thought, but there is no need to abandon it. Just by placing it on itself, it will naturally become pure. Do not prevent or abandon the clinging to confused appearances. The very thing that is not conducive perfects the antidote. That is what is said. Even if the person with the worst faculties does that, if the mind is still not tamed, then no matter what kind of conceptual thought arises, then...
