The suffering of aging and death. All of these are pervaded by the three: change, formation, and the suffering of suffering. So, what are these three heavens considered as the result of both good and evil? This is the result of mixed good and evil deeds, which is very reasonable and needs no further elaboration. Liberation refers to the three: Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Buddhas. The specific results, both good and evil, each have four: Vipaka (result of maturation), Nisyanda (result of outflow), Adhipati (result of dominance), and Purusakara (result of action). Vipaka is similar to the general explanation, but why is both the general and the specific explained here? This is a difference in the way of explanation; the former is explained generally, and the latter is explained by corresponding to each one. In Nisyanda, there are two types: experiencing Nisyanda and creating Nisyanda. The former is that the ten non-virtuous actions sequentially lead to: short life, poverty, unhappy family, suffering slander, disrespectful servants, hearing unpleasant sounds, impolite speech, unfulfilled wishes, suffering harm, and being in wrong views. The latter is the opposite of the ten virtuous actions; whatever is done, one will like and enjoy it in all lifetimes. Adhipati matures in the external world, and the ten non-virtuous actions sequentially lead to: barren land, unpleasant and rough; crops suffering hail; muddy, urine and feces stench; unstable wealth; difficult to pass; inner unease; wrong seasons; increased suffering; increased disasters; and being born in a helpless place. The ten virtuous actions are the opposite. Purusakara refers to whatever good or evil is done, it will increase and continue, which is the same. The fourth is having pure faith, strong intention, and unwavering determination. Generally, the Omniscient One divided faith into six types, but here it is summarized into three through the Guru's instructions: pure faith, desiring faith, and unwavering faith. The third common point is the wisdom of meditation, that is, meditating on the common and uncommon, the two: essence and mantra, in sequence. Here it says that the common is in accordance with the causal vehicle of the essence Mahayana, meditating on the two Bodhicittas; the uncommon is according to the mantra Vajrayana, meditating on the two stages of generation and completion. Of these two, the first is what is to be obtained, practiced, and the result.

Practice is the ultimate result. To obtain what has not been obtained initially, it is necessary to obtain it through the power of meditating on the ultimate bodhicitta, thus it is included as a result. To obtain the conventional bodhicitta, there are the means to be obtained, the main practice, and the subsequent practice. Thus it is said. Among the means, the main practice, and the subsequent practice, there are also four special means: instructions, place, support, and method. Thus it is said. Among them, the first special instruction is to generate weariness towards the extremes of existence, to reject attachment to peace, and to generate joy by speaking of the benefits of the mind of enlightenment that does not abide in the two extremes. The special place is to offer a mandala to the master and make requests. The special support is to take refuge in the Three Jewels with the mind of a great being. The special method is to accumulate merit with the seven-branch offering as a preliminary practice. The main practice is cultivating the mind and making vows. Thus it is said. Among them, the first is to recognize all sentient beings equal to the sky as parents, and then cultivate the four immeasurables: loving-kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity. The main practice is preceded by seeking permission, and making vows with three repetitions of words such as "How in the past," that is, at the time of the third statement, the mind of enlightenment is well obtained in one's own mindstream, which is the main practice. The subsequent practice is to cultivate joy for oneself and others. Thus it is said. Now, with "Now my life" and so on, one causes oneself, and with "I today in this" and so on, one causes others to cultivate joy, which is to obtain what was not obtained initially. How to practice after obtaining it? Practice ethics, concentration, and wisdom. Thus it is said. It briefly shows that the path is summarized into the three higher trainings and then practiced. The first aspect of explaining it in detail: ethics, according to the order of discipline, gathering virtue, and benefiting beings. Twenty root downfalls, six perfections, four ways of gathering. Thus it is shown. The higher training in ethics has three aspects: restraining from misdeeds, gathering virtuous qualities, and benefiting sentient beings. Among them, restraining from misdeeds is to protect the twenty root downfalls, which are: stealing the property of the Three Jewels, abandoning the Dharma, punishing the Sangha, committing the five heinous crimes, and holding wrong views. These are the five situations that a king may face. Among these five situations, instead of wrong views, there are: death, borderlands, cities, towns, and border areas.
