The truth of arising is: actions instigated by afflictions. The nature of cessation is: profound, obscure, ultimate, complete, incomplete, with adornment, without adornment, with remainder, without remainder, and supremely excellent. In terms of nature, by what, where, and what ceases? That is the path, suchness, and afflictions. The path is to know suffering, abandon origination, realize cessation, relying on the continuum of the path, or the five paths: the path of accumulation, the path of preparation, the path of seeing, the path of meditation, and the path of no more learning. The characteristics of the four truths are: impermanence, suffering, emptiness, selflessness, these are the four characteristics of the truth of suffering. Cause, origination, production, condition, these are the four characteristics of the truth of origination. Cessation, peace, excellence, liberation, these are the four characteristics of the truth of cessation. Path, reason, practice, deliverance, these are the four characteristics of the truth of the path. The definition is: not contradicting the teachings, knowing thus is not deceptive, therefore it is called truth. Moreover, because the noble ones see it as it is, it is called the noble truth. As stated in the Compendium of the Five Aggregates: That which can be changed is the characteristic of form. That which experiences is the characteristic of feeling. That which distinguishes is the characteristic of perception. That which composes is the characteristic of formation. That which knows is the characteristic of consciousness. In terms of classification, form has causal form, which is the four elements of earth, water, fire, and wind. Form produced by cause has the five faculties and the five objects, as well as non-manifest form. These in order are: hardness, wetness, warmth, movement, these are the elements. The pure basis of eye consciousness produced by the four great elements is the eye faculty, the other four are also the same. Produced by the four great elements, that which becomes the object of the eye is form, the others are also the same. Non-knowing, as stated in the Treasury of Manifest Knowledge: Non-knowing has three types, namely vows, non-vows, and others. Vows are the individual liberation vows, likewise are those born from uncontaminated concentration. Thus it is said. The form that is the object of the eye has two aspects: shape and color. Sound has pleasant and unpleasant. Both apprehended and unapprehended. Smell has fragrant and unfragrant, as well as neutral feeling. There are those that are co-emergent and those that are transformed from combination. Taste has sweet, sour, spicy, salty, bland, bitter, astringent. Touch has soft, rough, heavy, light.

Cold and heat, hunger and thirst, and so on. Feelings have six types of feelings, namely mental feeling and physical feeling. Conceptions have characteristics and without characteristics, or small, or large, or immeasurable. Formations have corresponding formations and non-corresponding formations. The first has five omnipresent, five object-specific, eleven virtuous, six root afflictions, twenty near afflictions, Four others. Non-corresponding are attainment, two samadhis, no conception. Life and similar kind, birth, aging, abiding, impermanence. Name, sentence, letter, ordinary beings enter. Separate determination, combination, quickness, order. Time, place, number, aggregate are twenty-three non-corresponding. Consciousness has six types, namely eye consciousness etc. that rely on the eye faculty and take form as their object. Increase and decrease by formations, obtaining is attainment. First generating the thought of tranquility, relying on the mind of the peak of existence, the cessation of both mind and mental factors, non-dependent and dependent, is the cessation attainment. First generating the thought of arising, relying on the mind of the fruit dharma, the cessation of mind and mental factors, non-dependent, is the non-conception attainment. If born in the realm of non-conception, the cessation of mind and mental factors, non-dependent, is non-conception. The definite duration of abiding in the same category is life or lifespan. The same kind of body is the same kind. Formation not yet arisen is birth. Formation changing is aging. Not decaying is abiding. Formation decaying is impermanence. Showing the essence of things is name. Showing the difference of things is sentence. The letter of both. Not having attained the noble dharma is an ordinary being. The continuous flow of cause and effect is entering. Cause and effect are separately determined. Cause and effect are in accordance and combined. Cause and effect quickly arising is quickness. Cause and effect arising one by one is order. Cause and effect continuously arising is time. Cause and effect existing in the east etc. is place. Cause and effect being many is number, the aggregation of cause, effect, and conditions is aggregate. Dependent Arising. ༈ At this time, a brief explanation of the meaning of dependent arising. The definition of dependent arising, the classification of limbs, the collection of limbs, the establishment of limbs as causes, the function of limbs. The establishment of limbs as afflictions. Explanation of the completion of lifespan in forward and reverse order, and its basis for entering and reversing the Four Truths.
