In the hour of the thousand-wood star, one must ascertain the positions of the sky and the oceans. In short, the trailing is uncertain, but the leading sun must be more. Therefore, with the remainder of mutual corrections, mix it with the previous sun and moon, correct the leading and add the trailing. Rotate oneself and discard half of the rotation. If all positions are empty, then one must ascertain. Furthermore, if it corresponds with the quick calculations of the above, then when the two progressions approach the end, when the sun approaches the west, the vernal equinox is above the first half, and the autumnal equinox is below the second half, the east must be determined. It is said that all images should be analyzed through reason. For the remainder of the mutual corrections of large and small, the leading takes twenty-two or twenty-three, and the trailing takes nineteen or twenty or so. Furthermore, there are the missing and increasing of dates, the height of the eastern and western mountains, the length of day and night, and so on, which all need to be carefully examined with keen intelligence. Incidentally, regarding the changes and decreases of virtuous deeds, it is said to have been done by Jowo (Venerable Atisha). From the *Fifty Verses on the Guru*, it is said that the first and eighth days have a hundredfold merit, lunar eclipses have a thousandfold, solar eclipses have ten thousandfold, and the four great festivals have a hundred thousandfold merit. On the Nirvana Day and the scattered four great festivals, it is said that there are a million hundred thousandfold merits.
