If one maintains the stated focus, or even if one does not maintain it, if one cultivates samadhi while awake, then eventually one will enter sleep samadhi. If the arising of such a state depends on a stable common samadhi, then there is no need for prana to enter the central channel, so it is not the characteristic sleep luminosity spoken of in Anuttarayoga. However, even in such a case, if one maintains the focus on the heart center as previously described, then it still has the key point of leaving imprints. If one can generate sleep samadhi through common samadhi, and if one can rest in the view of suchness, then it is merely the common path luminosity, but it does not have the meaning of the Anuttarayoga luminosity. Now, in order to be able to control through the power of the winds from the focus on the heart center as previously described, I will explain how the four emptinesses manifest. In the base state, because there is a bindu in the heart chakra that generates a state of thick sleep, if one makes that the path, then an extraordinary non-conceptual luminosity will arise. Even if one does not make that the path, when one goes to sleep, there is a spontaneous gathering of winds. If one has the ability to gather prana into the central channel while awake, and if, before going to sleep, one directs the focus into the central channel of the heart center as previously described, then due to the key point of previous virtuous actions, it will be very easy for the winds to gather into the central channel of the heart center. The order of this arising is that first, a mirage-like appearance of water shimmering will occur. Then, when that appearance is gathered, an appearance like smoke, filled with a bluish hue, will occur. After that appearance is gathered, an appearance of many tiny red fireflies will occur. After that appearance is gathered, an appearance like a candle flame not moved by the wind will occur. After that appearance is gathered, in a clear sky-like mind, all that appears, whether white bindus or the moon, etc., not a white path, but like a very clear and bright moonlight shining, will pervade everything, and this is called emptiness and appearance. After that is gathered, in a clear sky-like mind, not an appearance of red swirling, but like sunlight, a red or reddish-yellow appearance will pervade everything, and this is called very emptiness and increasing appearance. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Instead of seeing black dots etc. in a circle, everything that appears in the mind is like a clear sky. At this time, a state appears as if the darkness of night covers everything, and memory cannot be lost above this state. From a certain boundary below, one goes into unconscious darkness, which is not a problem. At that time, the more completely the memory disappears, the more stable the clear light that appears after the near-death experience will be. This is called 'Great Emptiness' and 'Near-Death Experience'. Then, after the appearance of the near-death experience disappears, the previous thick unconscious state dissipates, and it does not appear like the original color of the sky, but presents a state that is neither illuminated by the light of the sun and moon nor covered by darkness, like a clear sky at dawn, which is called 'All Emptiness Clear Light'. In this state, one must try to maintain it as much as possible, and strive to avoid waking up immediately or falling into a dream. This has already been explained in the instructions of the Marpa Kagyu's Secret Assembly. These four emptinesses can also correspond to the four joys. Because the clear light in the four joys is the ultimate innate joy, just maintaining its happiness and non-discrimination, although these two kinds of happiness have the same name, they are actually as different as the sky and the palm of the hand. When this great bliss arises, remembering the previous view of suchness and keeping the mind unwavering is what the unsurpassable vehicle praises as 'inseparable bliss and emptiness'. For this, there are many similar but different points that are easy to confuse, and it is necessary to carefully distinguish them. In many instructions of this tradition, the classification of the three emptinesses does not appear, and although the classification of the four emptinesses appears in some instructions, the recognition of them is not clear. Although there is no clear recognition in some instructions of Lama Ngokpa, a description like the Compendium of Practice appears. As it is said in the Compendium of Practice: 'The aggregates etc. are put into the subtle realm, the subtle realm is put into the mind, the mind is put into the intention, and the intention is put into ignorance. Combining in this way, one falls asleep. At this time, the moment when the mind, intention, and ignorance are completely absorbed is forgetting. Afterwards, the nature of wisdom in which forgetting does not exist is clear light.' 'Again, when liberated, the wind obtains its nature, if other dreams appear...' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
