Saying, "It is not others," they become jealous of others for the sake of gain and respect. Regarding those who are closer and more able to obtain offerings, they cause disputes, speak ill of them, slander, despise, speak evil words, and praise themselves. Due to jealousy, they proclaim that they possess superior qualities compared to others. Therefore, this behavior leads to downfall, causing them to fall away from the bliss of the Great Vehicle. Consequently, this results in a major downfall from the Great Vehicle, leading to rebirth in the lower realms. For example, someone desires to go to the Isle of Jewels, but the ship sinks because it cannot withstand the great ocean waves. Similarly, a novice Bodhisattva also wishes to cross the ocean of the Great Vehicle, but due to jealousy, they lie, causing their ship of faith to sink and losing the life of wisdom. Therefore, a novice Bodhisattva who lies due to jealousy will incur a major downfall. This is the fifth root downfall of a novice Bodhisattva. Furthermore, in the future, sons of good families, whether ordained or lay novice Bodhisattvas, will read, recite, and chant those profound sutras containing emptiness, as well as patience, meditation, and the Great Vehicle sutras that are the practice of noble beings adorned with the ten grounds, possessing great wisdom, and those Bodhisattvas who practice with ease, and after reading them, they will extensively teach others, saying: 'I have realized these teachings through my own wisdom, and I teach you in this way out of compassion. You must meditate on these profound teachings in such a way that they become manifest, and in this way, you too will see wisdom as I do now.' They say this, but in reality, they have not realized these profound teachings, but only teach through reading.

For the sake of being called attainment and reverence, one supports oneself. Because of this, the Tathagatas, Arhats, perfectly enlightened Buddhas of the three times, as well as Bodhisattva Mahasattvas, and in the presence of noble beings, one will become faulty, and a heavy downfall will occur. Gods and humans will be deceived by the Mahayana. If he does not become a Hearer Vehicle, what need to mention the Mahayana? What need to mention the distinction of realization in entering the Mahayana? What need to mention the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment? For example, a person goes to a vast wilderness, distressed by hunger and thirst and becomes exhausted. He sits down at the foot of a tree laden with great fruit for food. He abandons the tree laden with great fruit, fragrant and flavorful, and climbs onto a sapless poisonous tree and eats the poisonous fruit. Having eaten it, he dies. That person is spoken of in the same way as that example. Therefore, having obtained a very rare human body, relying on a virtuous friend, one who wishes to enter the Mahayana, for the sake of attainment, reverence, and fame, praises oneself and slanders others, causing such a heavy downfall. Because of the root of that downfall, one is deeply condemned by all wise ones and will fall into the lower realms. Such a person should not be associated with by all of the royal caste, Brahmins, Vaishyas, and Shudras. Whoever associates with him is in opposition to all wise ones. This is also the sixth root downfall of a Bodhisattva's first vow. Furthermore, son of lineage, in the future, the gifts offered in front of the royal caste, or the gifts offered by ministers, or the gifts offered by heroes, or the gifts offered by doctors, foolish people, despised by the wise, possessing great wealth and great enjoyment, those people appear to be doing many objects of merit of generosity. Those people become fat and arrogant because of generosity, and therefore are arrogant, even alienating the royal caste, also alienating practitioners from the royal caste, those

After dwelling in lineage, they also cut off ascetics with punishment, and deprive them with monetary penalties. Because of that harm, those ascetics, whether it be to an individual, or to the Sangha, or to the Sangha of the four directions, or to a stupa, after plundering, offer them as gifts. Those attendants also offer to the royal family, and both of those become the root of downfall. This is the seventh root of downfall. Furthermore, those attendants of the royal family, together with the ascetics, become guilty. They also label such Dharma as non-Dharma, and label non-Dharma as Dharma, abandoning the Dharma. They do not look to such sutras and the teachings of the Vinaya. They do not look to the black teacher and the great teacher. After abandoning loving-kindness and great compassion, as well as the teachings of the Prajnaparamita and the teachings of skillful means, and whatever teachings are spoken from other sutras, for the sake of cherishing the ascetics, they undertake activities that are not in accordance with such Dharma, and those activities will harm the ascetics. They abandon the mental application that combines shamatha and vipassana. Those meditators will increase their harmful intent. Therefore, they do not pacify the ascetics' unpacified afflictions, nor do they make them thin. At that time, the ascetics' minds will decline, their discipline will decline, their conduct and views will decline. Therefore, they will become lax, they will become lax towards laypeople, and their discipline will decline. If they are not ascetics, they vow to be ascetics. If they are not celibates, they vow to be celibates, becoming like donkeys, and proclaim extremely flattering Dharma. The royal family and their retinue will show great respect, service, and offerings to those people. Those people will speak words to laypeople that do not praise the ascetics who strive for renunciation, and the royal family and their retinue will also hate and ridicule those ascetics who strive for renunciation. There, the benefits and enjoyments of the ascetics who strive for renunciation will be offered to the ascetics who strive for recitation, and both of those
