power. Likewise, the brave ones go under the power of all sentient beings. Whether scolded or constantly beaten, it doesn't matter. A maidservant does not utter a word of retort to her master. Thinking, "This might kill me," With a very fearful mind, she is subdued by fear and overwhelmed. Similarly, one who has entered the supreme Bodhi for the sake of enlightenment, Should abide as a servant to all beings. From this, one will attain enlightenment and perfect qualities. Fire arises from grass and wood, and that fire burns them. Abandoning one's own happiness, with a mind without expectation, Day and night, strive manifestly for the needs of other sentient beings. Just as a mother attends to her only child, One should abide with a firm mind, without any weariness. Whichever Bodhisattva desires to wander in samsara for a long time, And is a yogi who strives for the benefit of sentient beings and the purification of the Buddha-fields, If even a particle of weariness does not arise, Then that one is endowed with the perfection of diligence, without negligence. An unskilled Bodhisattva counts hundreds of thousands of eons, If one perceives it as long and practices enlightenment with suffering, When practicing the true Dharma, it becomes prolonged suffering. Therefore, one who has deteriorated in the perfection of diligence and is lazy, From the very beginning of generating the supreme Bodhicitta, Until one attains unsurpassed enlightenment, If one thinks about it in one's mind for just a moment, Then the wise should recognize that diligence has been initiated with clarity. If someone says this: After destroying Mount Meru, One will attain supreme enlightenment, Rather than saying that, If one generates weariness equal to the amount of weariness generated, Then at that time, the Bodhisattva has become lazy. If one thinks, "What difficulty is there in merely trying this much?" In an instant, one generates the thought of reducing Mount Meru to ashes, The skilled Bodhisattva has initiated diligence, Before long, one will attain the supreme enlightenment of a guide. In order to fully ripen beings and accomplish their benefit, If one strives with body, speech, and mind, Because self-grasping exists, one has become lazy, Like heaven and earth, one becomes distant from omniscience. When there is no grasping of body, mind, and sentient beings, Reversing grasping, one practices the non-dual Dharma, This is the supreme diligence of one who desires peaceful enlightenment without deterioration.
