One must know how to grasp. In general, the supreme Anuttara Tantra speaks of emptiness endowed with all perfections, and the arising of both Buddhas and sentient beings, which is called "ground one, path two." Because one does not recognize one's own nature, there is a ground. The awareness of the way things appear, in one's own experience or the way things appear, is confused by the entry of the clinging of conceptual mind. Because sentient beings do not recognize the self-nature of primordial purity, ignorance arises from the single essence. Because one does not recognize that spontaneous appearances are self-appearances, co-emergent ignorance arises. When it becomes coarser and one contemplates, "Did I come from that, or did that come from me?" then it arises as the object of contemplation, and the alaya and alaya-consciousness, which do not arise as the object of clinging. From within that state, the ignorance of complete imputation arises. Because the appearance of objects leaves imprints on the mind, the awareness of the appearance of objects arises in an instant. Because the mind leaves imprints of contemplating objects, the clinging to objects arises in the second instant. Confusion arises due to the power of four conditions: not recognizing self-appearance is the Mara of the son of gods; taking the contaminated aggregates is the Mara of the aggregates; having afflictions in the contaminated aggregates is the Mara of the afflictions; having birth and death in the contaminated aggregates, therefore the Mara of death arises. On that ground, what is called the wind of wisdom, the mind stirs only as much as a hair trembles day and night. The radiance shines outward and is liberated upward through four conditions: the causal condition, the reality of things, the lord condition, the condition of the object of self-cognizant wisdom, and the immediate condition of knowing self-appearance as the same. At that simultaneous instant, one becomes enlightened as the forty-two peaceful deities of the Sambhogakaya. Then, the four Maras are naturally destroyed: knowing self-appearance, the Mara of the son of gods is destroyed; attaining the self-nature body of wisdom, the Mara of the aggregates is destroyed; having no afflictions in the body of wisdom, the Mara of the afflictions is destroyed; having no birth and death in the body of wisdom, the Mara of death is destroyed, and thus Nirvana is attained. From the Sambhogakaya, one is liberated into the secret chamber of the spontaneously accomplished jewel, and thus attains perfect Nirvana. In general, the practice of Bardo, in the Bardo of natural birth, severing doubts through hearing and thinking, is like the instruction of meeting someone one has known before; in the Bardo of dying, clarifying what is unclear is like showing a mirror to an ugly woman.

There are four instructions: the instruction of the "child," the instruction of recognizing the self-display of the Dharmata Bardo as a mother embracing her child, and the instruction of continuing the path in the Sipa Bardo like inserting a stake into a broken irrigation ditch. The first is the seven conducts. Nyagter Rinpoche said that all the instructions of the lama are complete on top of one Samadhi, which is the conduct of remembering the instructions like a bee; because the superimpositions have been cut off beforehand, there is no doubt at the time of Samadhi, which is the conduct of a hawk; not suppressing whatever arises, but letting it arise and be liberated, which is the conduct of a madman; being free from the dualistic clinging of clean and unclean, which is the conduct of a dog and pig; the wisdom of Samadhi is endowed with fearless confidence, which is the conduct of a lion. Furthermore, if the six characteristics are combined with the present Rigpa Kadag, the self-cognizance of Rigpa spontaneously transcends the unpredicted Alaya; because only Rigpa exists, the appearance to oneself is not obstructed; because it is clearly manifest, it is distinguished; because it arises suddenly, it is liberated on top of the distinction; because it transcends existence and non-existence, it does not arise from other causes; because the essence is also unchanging, it abides in itself, and the present Rigpa is the meeting of the face of Kuntuzangpo, the primordial Buddha. Moreover, there are three key instructions for liberation in the Dharmata Bardo: recognizing the appearance of Dharmata as self-appearance is like the instruction of a mother embracing her child; on top of that recognition, not moving even for a moment from the natural Samadhi is like the instruction of a golden needle; on top of that abiding, liberation in the self-nature of primordial purity without returning is like the instruction of a great arrow. That is, now recognize the appearance of clear light with its accompanying habitual tendencies, and step on that. Because not returning to the ordinary state from here is the result of the Togal path, cherish this, he said. Now, the way to practice dying and the Bardo from now on is: now that the time has come for me to die, I must completely cut off attachment to all places of attachment such as residence, friends, and enjoyments, and make a firm decision. Offer the body, enjoyments, and all roots of virtue to the lama. From this life to all lifetimes, pray that you will never be separated from the lama and Vajra brothers who teach the Dharma and instructions of the Great Vehicle, and abide in the meaning of the inseparability of Dharmadhatu and wisdom.
