just as they cannot be changed by, etc., there is no change in time. That also is not a delusion, but arises from improper attention, such as attachment and aversion. In the Ratnavali, it says: The first, eighth, and ninth are afflictions, the second and tenth are karma, and the rest are suffering. Thus, the all-afflictive of afflictions, the all-afflictive of karma, and the all-afflictive of birth, the nature of reality does not become afflicted by the adventitious stains, because it is naturally pure. Moreover, inseparable from oneself and essence, possessing the characteristic of being inseparable, it is not empty of the unsurpassed qualities such as powers, because it is primordially endowed, so it does not need to be newly established, like the sun and its rays. Moreover, in the explanation of doubts in the Uttaratantra, it says: "Then, do the minds of sentient beings such as dogs and pigs have the wisdom of the ten powers?" The answer is: "The qualities of the wisdom of the ten powers are primordially present in the tathagatagarbha of that mind. Because it is the quality of its own nature, if there is a dhatu, there is a quality, but it does not manifest. Just as a sword has the function of cutting, but when it is in its sheath, the function of cutting does not manifest. Just as a mirror has the quality of reflecting images, but when it is put in a box, it does not manifest. The obscurations present in the mind of a person who possesses self-continuity prevent the qualities of the dhatu from appearing. Moreover, even though the nature of his own mind, the emptiness endowed with all perfections, does not manifest, how can qualities manifest? Therefore, thinking about this non-manifestation, it is permissible to say that there is only the cause for generating the ten powers, but in reality, they do not exist, according to that way of thinking. If the cause for generating is a conditioned mind, then it is difficult to establish that every mind can generate the ten powers. If the nature of mind itself acts by the power of purifying the two obscurations together with their habitual tendencies, then this is a quality of the unconditioned realm, and it cannot be a cause for maturation. Such a dhatu is said to be the nature of mind, clear light, and innate mind. It never ceases, and because its essence is emptiness, it has no object or sign, but

It is not merely emptiness, but the self-illuminating nature that is without characteristics. Although we also believe that the Tathagatagarbha in the mind-stream that has not eliminated obscurations does not manifest the wisdom of the ten powers, it is not that it is absent in that realm of unsurpassed Dharma qualities, but rather because there are obscurations that prevent it from manifesting. If the essence of one's own nature were not inherently endowed with the qualities of a Buddha, then even if such an essence existed, it would not become the seed of Buddhahood, just like mere emptiness. Therefore, Dharmadhatu luminosity, or self-arisen wisdom, or the luminosity of the original mind, or the Tathagatagarbha, all these are the same in meaning. This is the Buddha-nature, and when it exists in a stream of consciousness with obscurations, it is the seed capable of becoming a Buddha, and when one becomes a Buddha, it will manifest. Even though it is capable of becoming a Buddha, in the unconditioned nature of reality, there is no difference in condition between before and after, because the essence is immutable. In terms of appearance, it is permissible to speak of terms that describe a change in condition. Because it is shown that such a Buddha-nature exists, one abandons the five faults and will not regress from unsurpassed Bodhi. The five faults arise from not having heard that the Tathagatagarbha exists in the hearts of all sentient beings. This is the key to accomplishing the ultimate One Vehicle, and it is also the key to the Vajrayana's understanding that the nature of mind is primordially enlightened. Thus it is said. Ngok Lo and Tsang Nakpa said: The Tathagatagarbha refers to the ultimate truth, but the ultimate truth is not only not the actual object of sound and conceptualization, but it is not even the object of attachment. Phya-pa said: Negating things by way of emptiness of truth is the ultimate truth, and he also considers it to be the object of attachment of sound and conceptualization. The Tsan tradition people believe that the luminous nature of mind is the Tathagatagarbha, therefore, it is considered to be the active cause of Buddhahood. Jetsun Redawa said: Initially, he composed the Ratnagotravibhāga as a Mind-Only treatise and also wrote a commentary in accordance with Mind-Only. Later, while in seclusion, he sang: Therefore, seeing that this indivisible awareness-emptiness of one's own mind pervades all sentient beings, using the examples of treasures beneath the earth and the wombs of pregnant women, he said that all beings possess the Tathagatagarbha. This is what he said when he sang the song.
