A collection of necessary intermediate pages for the Empty Roar of the Lion. A collection of necessary intermediate pages for the Empty Roar of the Lion. Back of page two. Just as scriptural authority and reliable inference are of the same meaning, so too are scriptural authority and scripture purified by three examinations of the same meaning. In this regard, direct perception does not harm what is seen and manifest; inference does not harm what is unseen and obscure; and for what is extremely obscure, there is no contradiction with earlier and later scriptures. First, the scriptures such as the Eight Thousand Verse Prajnaparamita Sutra, regarding the meaning of what is manifested, such as "this is form," etc., one examines for oneself through direct perception whether it is so, and if it is so, then the valid cognition does not harm it. Second, the meaning of what is obscure, such as "sound is impermanent," etc., one examines through factual inference whether it is so, and if it is so, then it does not harm it. Third, regarding the meaning of what is extremely obscure, such as "generosity brings enjoyment, discipline brings happiness," etc., one examines whether the scripture itself directly or indirectly indicates, and whether there is contradiction between the preceding and following, and if there is no harm of contradiction, then the scripture that is seen is scriptural authority and is scripture purified by three examinations. An example of scriptural authority is the Prajnaparamita Sutra. The wisdom arising from hearing, the wisdom arising from thinking, the wisdom arising from meditation. Hearing is the activity of teaching and listening, and thinking is the activity of examining well through the four types of reasoning. These four types of reasoning are: the reasoning of action, the reasoning of dependence, the reasoning of the nature of phenomena, and the reasoning of establishment through reason. In the relative, one must realize the three—cause, effect, and essence—as they are. In the ultimate, one must know that these three are the nature of the three liberations of selflessness. Thus, the establishment of cause, effect, and essence is the three types of reasoning in the context of conventional analysis. In the ultimate, if one analyzes with the vajra sliver reasoning, then it is not seen which cause produces which effect. If one analyzes with existence, non-existence, arising, and ceasing, then effects do not arise in dependence on causes. If one analyzes with the reasoning of one and many, separate, etc., then none of the essences, such as hardness, are established. There is no reason.

The fruit without aspiration, the essence being emptiness, abiding in the nature of the three doors of liberation, is the ultimate reality of Dharma. For valid cognition, there are two: direct perception and inference. Direct perception has ultimate direct perception and conventional direct perception. Inference also has two: conventional inference and ultimate inference. Ultimately, when the two truths are inseparable, each being the object of self-awareness, and one realizes the Dharmadhatu, it is the ultimate. In the context of the third leaf. In the commentary on the chapter distinguishing Dharma and Dharmata, "Distinguishing the Light of Wisdom": Furthermore, the noble son of the Victorious Ones, the venerable Asanga, after practicing Maitreya for twelve years, finally had a direct vision of him, who then led him to the abode of the gods in Tushita. There, he taught the five dharmas: the treatises that explain the intention of all the Victorious Ones' teachings, namely, the two ornaments, the two distinctions, and the Uttaratantra. Some scholars consider these five treatises as a single continuous text. Others argue that because the ultimate teachings of the three vehicles and the one vehicle are different, the idea of considering these treatises as a single body is refuted. The proponents of our own system consider them as commentaries on the individual teachings of the Buddha. Among them, the first and last two are considered commentaries on Madhyamaka, and the middle three are considered commentaries on Cittamātra. Alternatively, only the Sūtrālaṃkāra is considered a Cittamātra text, and the other four are considered Madhyamaka. Or, the Abhisamayālaṃkāra is considered Madhyamaka, and the other four are considered Cittamātra. Some also hold that all five abide in the intention of Cittamātra, while others hold that all five abide in the intention of Madhyamaka. However, in reality, it is undisputed that the Abhisamayālaṃkāra is a commentary on the middle turning of the wheel of Dharma, the Prajñāpāramitā, and the Uttaratantra is a commentary on the sutras that teach the definitive meaning of the Tathāgatagarbha of the final turning of the wheel of Dharma. Both of these agree that the ultimate lineage is one and the vehicle is one, and that their views are in accordance with the meaning of Madhyamaka. The Sūtrālaṃkāra is a commentary that compiles the meanings of most of the sutras other than those explained by the previous two. There, it is not definitively stated whether the lineage and vehicle are one, and so on. Therefore, it is clear that it mainly explains the intention of the Cittamātra sutras. These two distinctions
