Taking the essence of anything, whether it is Jin (ཛིན་) or a cause of non-attachment. Make a medium-sized pill with a balanced taste, free from anger. The seventh is the distinction of clothing and implements. Do not wear, hold, or use animal skins as cushions, etc. If others offer earnestly three times, discard after three months. If it is the skin of a predator, discard after seven days. Not to mention taking dog skin. Do not approach within one yojana of a solitary place. Do not wear black clothes. Even if you wear them because you are very detached from activities, do not wear them in other places besides when you are dwelling in solitude. Use it as a cover or a cushion until it is worn out. Also, do not wear clothes that are only patches without a base. Rely on coarse cloth, hemp cloth, tree cotton cloth, and felt, as they require little effort and have little importance. The mat should be soft cotton cloth. For trees, use leaves. Straw mats. Use grass, etc. Do not regularly drink from drinking vessels made of gold, silver, copper, porcelain, or human skulls. Make a bowl of female yak horn or wood and iron. Use earthenware and iron for cooking utensils. Do not carry a knife longer than six fingers. Do not carry sticks, sharp horns, spears, or other fighting implements even for a day. Do not wear leather shoes. In particular, it is very wrong to make the handle from animal skin, especially dog skin, so rely on cloth shoes. Not to mention relying on many things regularly, except for the few necessary implements. Do not stay together even for a day. The eighth is the distinction of dwelling places. Do not stay in nomadic monasteries, cities, large continents, crowded places, or marketplaces. If you stay, greed for desirable objects and bad behavior will begin, so always dwell in solitary places. Desire will naturally cease. Even if it is a solitary place, avoid places with harmful spirits, places where there is danger to life, places where the climate is unbalanced, places where the land is damp and has a lot of steam, places where the water is bad, places where it is difficult to gather water and wood, places where there is a lot of noise, places where there are many bad creatures, places where non-human spirits dwell, and places with strong winds.

If you live there, because of the arising of craving for desirable objects and bad behavior, always live in secluded mountain retreats. Desire will naturally cease. Even in a mountain retreat, do not live in places haunted by malevolent spirits, places where there is danger to life, places where the temperature is uneven, places where the ground is damp and humid, places where the water is bad, places where it is difficult to gather water and trees, places where there is a lot of noise, places where there are many bad animals, places where there are non-human spirits, windy places, unsupported slopes, very deep canyons, and places with frequent rain. Why? Because practitioners will not gather, and the main disciples will not abide. Instead, live in places that are pleasing to the mind, such as piles of white rocks, gardens with fragrant trees and abundant fruit, places where the ground is green, meadows are full of flowers, and there is clean, tasty, and beneficial water. Blue sheep, gazelles, etc., and eagles and large birds constantly circle on the rocks. Bees hum the sound of the six-syllable mantra and fly in gardens full of flowers. Among birds, like the Kalantaka bird, the body is yellow and emits six melodic tones.
