In Lapo Hang, prayed to White Tara. Then, when Dampa and two Tibetan monks and many disciples arrived in Mangyu, there were many Indian merchants there. Some Acharyas offered flowers to Dampa and expressed strong reverence. The yellow-bearded man asked, "Who is this lama, what is he called?" They replied, "He is known as Pandit Kamalashila in India, and as Dampa Indian in Tibet. He has been to Tibet several times before, and it seems he is coming to Tibet again this time." The two Tibetans had not sought Dharma before because they could not determine whether it was an outsider or an insider. Now they believed it, and Geshe Dngogdrub Nyngpo said, "Please teach some Dharma." Dampa said, "What do you do with that cane? It is a tool used by outsiders to perform magic. I also know, it is not needed. Are you going to deceive the Tibetans? Give it here!" After saying that, he picked up the cane, put it on his knee, and broke it. Then he gave the teaching: "Ah! Do not take external appearances into your heart, do not spread internal thoughts outward, do not use the mind to control the body, do not give the body to the mind, do not engage in any views or meditation in the mind, let the mind remain in its unaltered natural state." He gained a definite understanding of this and regarded Dampa as his root guru, then returned to his hometown and made practice the core. The man with the yellow beard said, "When the Dharma does not seek people, people cannot find the Dharma by seeking it. I traveled all over India, east and west, seeking the Dharma, but I did not find it. On the way back to Tibet, I met an accomplished guru. Thinking that I should seek Dharma now, I asked him to give me uncommon teachings. The guru said, 'Now is the time to give you the Dharma.'" So he followed the guru, came through the northern road to Mudok Tagri, and stayed in a house. Many people came to Dampa to ask for blessings, and the blind could see half, the deaf could hear, etc. Everyone was amazed, and his fame spread everywhere. At that time, there was a Geshe named Kyo Shakya Yeshe in that area, and two monks named Tsangpa Gragchen and Gragchung, who were famous along with him. They were the fathers of two children whose ancestors were all mantra practitioners, and who had fought with others and stolen their beautiful wives. A man named Mowo offered sixteen "Bung" coins to Kyodun as collateral. Kyodun was distracted by his wealth and did not help, and the two children were possessed by demons.
