The absorption of the formless realms is: That which, being free from attachment to the sky and relying on the intention of infinite consciousness, is a single-pointed samadhi focused on its own object. The absorption of nothingness is: That which, being free from attachment to consciousness and relying on the intention of nothingness, is a single-pointed samadhi focused on its own object. The absorption of neither perception nor non-perception is: That which, being free from attachment to nothingness, and not considering there to be coarse perception, nor considering there to be no subtle perception, relying on such intention, is a single-pointed samadhi focused on its own object. The approximation of the formless meditations is: The samadhi gathered by the formless meditations, which is the means of accomplishing any of the actual formless meditations. The approximation of the first meditation is: The samadhi gathered by the first meditation, which is the means of accomplishing the actual first meditation. The other seven (approximations) are also explained in this way. There are six divisions. The characteristic of the actual formless meditations is: That which is gathered by the formless meditations, arising from one's own realization. The actual first meditation is: That which is gathered by the first meditation, arising from one's own approximation. The other seven (actual meditations) are also represented in this way. There are three divisions: co-occurring with feeling, pure, and without outflows. The formless meditation co-occurring with feeling is: The unspecified samadhi that is within the category of formless meditation, mostly associated with afflictions such as craving for one's own purity. The other seven (meditations) are also represented in this way. The first co-occurring with feeling is: Craving for the first purity, and the others are also represented in this way. The pure formless meditation is: The characteristic of virtue gathered by the formless meditation, associated with white dharmas such as non-attachment of the world, having aspects of peace and roughness. The characteristic of the pure first meditation is: The samadhi of virtue gathered by the first meditation, associated with white dharmas such as non-attachment to the path, having aspects of peace and roughness. The formless meditation without outflows is: That which is transcendent of the world within the category of formless meditation, capable of abandoning the seeds of obscurations. The first meditation without outflows is: The transcendent first meditation, capable of abandoning the seeds of obscurations. The others are also represented in this way. The pure and co-occurring with feeling exist in those who have not entered the path, while the pure and without outflows exist in the noble ones. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Most are present. As for the samadhi of cessation, it refers to the samadhi attained by the noble Bodhisattva who has negated the basis of his own refutation, having blocked the seven consciousness aggregates along with their retinue. It is the characteristic of 'application' (sbyor ba) among the eleven aspects of all forms. In order to gain mastery over the three wisdoms, the aspects are gathered together, and the path of learning in meditation can be divided into twenty. The boundary is from the path of accumulation to the end of the path of learning. The person who practices application is a person who has accumulated merit in the past and is now a suitable vessel for hearing the Prajnaparamita Sutra and other teachings. It can be divided into four types, with the boundary from the path of accumulation to the end of the path of learning. The (qualities) qualities of application refer to the state of application or the benefits to be ultimately attained. It can be divided into fourteen types, with the boundary from the path of accumulation to Buddhahood. The (faults) characteristics of the faults of application refer to the obstacles that interrupt application, which can be divided into forty-six types, occurring up to the seventh bhumi. The characteristics of the (characteristics, etc.) characteristics of application refer to the power of the self-cause application, the resulting effect that is manifested. It can be divided into ninety-one types, with the boundary from the path of accumulation to Buddhahood.
