The religious practices of the Ogba were very few. Then, in order to purify sins, great temples were built in each of the places called Maru, Malawa, Mewara, Pituwa, and Chitawara. The livelihood of thousands of monks was provided, and the Dharma was made very prosperous. The great master Yönten Ö was born into a Brahmin family in the destroyed land. After mastering all the Vedas and treatises, he later renounced and took full ordination in one of those temples. In the presence of the great master Vasubandhu, he expertly studied the three baskets of the Śrāvakayāna and many Mahāyāna sutras. He expertly knew all the Vinaya texts and treatises of the various schools. He always kept in mind the hundred thousand verses of the Vinaya. He resided in the temple called Agra Puri in the destroyed land, where five thousand monks lived together. All of them immediately corrected all the faults that should be restrained, including even the smallest transgressions, with individual remedies, so that the discipline was perfectly pure, just like in the past when the Arhats maintained the Dharma. There were also many holders of sutras and holders of mothers, and there were about five hundred who had mastered the hundred thousand verses of the Vinaya. By the power of perfectly pure discipline, the minister of King Śrī Harsha, named Matanga Raja, once had his eyes gouged out by the king's punishment, but they were restored by the power of the master's prayer. Because he became the king's guru, countless offerings gathered every day, but immediately all were transformed into virtuous deeds, and he did not decline from the qualities he had cultivated. The master Lodrö Tenda (Intelligence Steadfast): When the master Vasubandhu recited the scriptures known as the ninety-nine myriads of Vinaya verses, an intelligent pigeon perched on his shoulder and listened with great reverence. After it died, it was reborn in the south in a place called Dantakaranya as the son of a merchant. As soon as he was born, he asked where the master was staying. When asked who the master was, he said it was Vasubandhu, and that he was staying in Magadha. When he asked the merchants of that place, they also said that he was staying there, so at the age of seven he was brought to the presence of the master Vasubandhu.

Also, because of studying logic, it is known that there are no difficulties. At that time, thinking whether to eat a handful of peas that were found, one went to a Tara temple. Thinking that it is not right to eat without offering to the Holy Mother, some peas were offered, but they rolled away. Thinking that if the Holy Mother has not eaten, one should not eat them oneself, even if offering continuously, the peas still rolled away, so one transformed into a child and cried. The Holy Mother revealed her true face and said, "Do not cry, I will bless you." In an instant, one was endowed with boundless wisdom. This statue is also known as "Maṣa Tare." Afterwards, the elder who held the three baskets of scriptures, especially skilled in all the treatises of the Great and Small Vehicles, the noble Deva Stupa, often made prayers. All activities were prophesied by the Holy Savior Tara. Deva Stupa wrote forty-nine commentaries on the "Abhisamayalankara," as well as a commentary on the "Mulamadhyamakakarika." At the time of the passing of the teacher Vasubandhu, he defeated many heretics, such as the Vedic scholars, and was therefore known as the Lord of Speech. Most of the commentaries written by the teacher Vasubandhu were annotated, and many commentaries were also written for various sutras and treatises. It is said that he also wrote a commentary on the "Abhidharmakosa," but it is not known whether it was the same teacher. The monasteries established by the previous teachers had mostly declined by that time, so it is said that this teacher also established one hundred and eight new monasteries. The teacher Dignaga, in the southern city called Simhabhakta, near Kanchi, was born into a Brahmin family. He was extremely skilled in all heretical doctrines. In the department of the Sthavira school of the Mother and Child, holding the doctrine of Nagadatta, that is, Naga Datta, he took ordination and became skilled in the three baskets of the Sravakas. When he asked the abbot for instructions, he was given the instruction to seek the inexpressible self. There, he pondered and observed, but did not see its existence. During the day, all the windows were removed, and at night, lamps were lit in all four directions, and the body was stripped naked and looked at both inside and out. When a friend saw him doing this, he told the abbot, and the abbot also asked him. He replied, "I am a dull person with little wisdom, so I have not understood what the abbot has taught."

I did not see who it was, therefore I wondered if it was obscured by an obscuration, and observed in that way. In reality, he also showed the intellects that prevent it. The abbot became angry and said, "Do not stay here, satirizing my sect." He expelled him from a place that was not for expulsion. Although he could have refuted him with reason at that time, he thought it was inappropriate, so he prostrated and left. Eventually, he went to the master Vasubandhu, and heard all the collections of the Great and Small Vehicles. It is said that he eventually held about five hundred sutras, including the Great and Small Vehicles and even dharani mantras. In particular, he received knowledge mantras from a mantra master and, through practice, directly saw the face of the noble Manjushri, and listened to the Dharma as he wished. In the land of Oḍiviśa, in a very secluded forest, he lived in a cave in a rocky mountain called Bhota Saila, single-mindedly striving in meditation. After a few years had passed, a great heretical debate arose in glorious Nālandā. There, a Brahmin named Sudurjaya, who had directly seen the deity he had practiced and was extremely skilled in logic and difficult to defeat, had also gathered. The Buddhists were unable to debate with him, so they invited the master Dignāga from the east. He defeated that heretic three times, and refuted each of the heretical opponents who had gathered there, and converted them to Buddhism. There, he explained many sutras in detail to the Sangha, and extensively propagated the Abhidharma. He also composed many scattered treatises on epistemology and logic, and it is said that he composed a total of more than one hundred treatises. Afterwards, he returned to the land of Oḍiviśa and devoted himself to meditation. There, he thought that because of this logical system that arose from the power of his unique intelligence, the previously written treatises had become like scattered fragments, so it was necessary to unite them. Thus, he wrote the homage and pledge of the *Compendium on Valid Cognition*: The teacher, the Sugata, the protector, who has become the standard and wishes to benefit beings, Having paid homage, in order to establish validity, from all my own treatises, I will gather the various scattered fragments here into one.

Then, writing with stone ash, the earth shook, light spread in all directions, and a great sound arose. At that time, a Brahmin named Black Brahmin knew that this was an ominous sign, and while the teacher was away begging for alms, he came and erased it. After erasing it twice in this way, the third time he wrote, "If this is erased for the sake of joking and jesting, then do not erase it, because there is a great need. If you want to argue because the meaning is wrong, then make the body appear." Then again, while he was away begging for alms, he came to erase it, saw the words, and stopped. When the teacher returned, he debated with the Dharma as his witness, and defeated the heretics many times. Then he said to the heretic, "Now enter the Buddhist teachings." The heretic recited mantras and scattered ashes, burning all the teacher's belongings, and the teacher was almost burned as well, and the heretic fled. I thought to myself, if I cannot even benefit this one person, how can I benefit others? Just as I was about to give up generating the mind of enlightenment, the noble Manjushri appeared and said, "Child, do not do this, do not do this, associating with inferior people will generate evil wisdom. Know that the heretical groups cannot harm this treatise of yours. Until you attain Buddhahood, I will be your spiritual friend. In future times, this treatise will become one eye of all treatises." The teacher, hearing this, said, "With many unbearable sufferings, difficult to endure, and the mind also delighting in unholy conduct, difficult to meet holy people, even if I see your face, if you do not bless me, what shall I do?" Manjushri said, "Child, do not be unhappy, I will protect you from all fears." Having said this, he disappeared. After that, the teacher completed that treatise well. Once, the teacher became slightly ill, and after begging for alms from the city, he rested at the edge of the forest, and feeling tired, he fell asleep. In his dream, he saw many Buddhas and attained many samadhis. Outside, the gods rained down flowers, and the flowers of the forest also bowed in reverence. Elephants were providing shade, and at that time, the king of the country came out for a stroll with his retinue.
