Sadhana. Om Svasti! To the wrathful form of Vajradhara, To the venerable Mahakala, I prostrate and briefly write down his sadhana. Here, if one wishes to meditate on the sadhana of the two-armed Mahakala, known as the root protector, which is taught in the Vajra Tent Tantra, and in accordance with the sadhana composed by Naga Bodhi, transmitted from the teacher Nagarjuna, one should arrange complete offerings, tormas, samaya substances, etc., and begin with refuge and bodhicitta. From the Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Hūṃ) in one's heart, light radiates, offering to the Guru, Yidam, Mahakala, and all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, from Arghaṃ (Sanskrit: अर्घ्यं, Romanization: arghaṃ, Chinese literal meaning: water for washing feet) to Shabda (Sanskrit: शब्द, Romanization: śabda, Chinese literal meaning: sound). Take refuge in the Three Jewels, perform the seven-limb prayer. Recite "Vajra Muḥ" (Tibetan: བཛྲ་མུཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: वज्र मु, Sanskrit Romanization: vajra muḥ, Chinese literal meaning: Vajra Mu) to invite the deities. Meditate in accordance with the four immeasurables. Purify with emptiness (Sanskrit: शून्यता, Romanization: śūnyatā, Chinese literal meaning: emptiness). From within emptiness, inside the protective circle arising from the syllable Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Hūṃ), in the center of the great charnel ground, on a lotus and sun disc, from the dark blue Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Hūṃ) of one's mind, light radiates, destroying all enemies and obstacles, then gathers back and dissolves, completely transforming into oneself as the venerable, glorious Mahakala, body dark blue-black, one face, two arms, three eyes, right hand holding a curved knife, left hand holding a skull cup filled with blood, holding them up and down at the level of the heart, embracing the consort. In the armpits, holding a khaṭvāṅga of the nature of union. Fangs bared, terrifying. Both feet standing in equal stance on a corpse seat. From the corners of the mouth, a great river of red flows. The beard, eyebrows, and hair blaze red-yellow like fire. Adorned with Akshobhya on the head. Wearing a fresh tiger skin as a lower garment. With a garland of five dry human heads and a necklace of fifty wet ones. Adorned with the eight great nagas and the five seals. In his lap, the great black woman arising from Hrīḥ (Tibetan: ཧྲིཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ह्रीः, Sanskrit Romanization: hrīḥ, Chinese literal meaning: Hrīḥ), naked, without ornaments, with hands holding a curved knife and skull cup, and with both legs embracing the father. Both the father and mother are the same, slightly peaceful, and dwell in the midst of blazing wisdom fire. In the east is the black woman arising from Kaṃ (Tibetan: ཀཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: कं, Sanskrit Romanization: kaṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Kaṃ), in the south is the fierce woman arising from Kaṃ (Tibetan: ཀཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: कं, Sanskrit Romanization: kaṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Kaṃ), in the west is Varahi arising from Vaṃ (Tibetan: བཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: वं, Sanskrit Romanization: vaṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Vaṃ), in the north is Beṃ
