Dang ngo. From the moment when clear light manifests once, cut off strictly from the continuation of the previous state, and meditate with focused and intense aspiration, then it will manifest sequentially. If you maintain that state, after a month or two, you will gain some stability. After that, unless there is a disturbance of the elements or a transformation due to demonic influences, it will definitely manifest about once each night. For those who do not have a strong experience of bliss and clarity, grasping it with mindfulness will occur repeatedly, and they will be able to maintain it for a long time. For the situation where clear light always manifests in all deep sleep, it is necessary to have extremely long-term habituation and single-pointed meditation. Moreover, merely the clear light of clarity and emptiness is a common virtuous practice, while the clear light of inseparable bliss and emptiness is the actual practice. In the common practice of both dream and clear light, if you cannot fall asleep because of alternating focus on the object, then visualize that from the black 'MUM' (Tibetan: མུཾ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: मुं, Sanskrit Romanization: muṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: None) syllable at your heart, rays of light like mist radiate, pervading the entire body inside and out, and meditate repeatedly. Consume nutritious food, and eliminate obstacles by arranging leisure and busyness appropriately. As soon as you grasp dream and clear light, you will suddenly wake up as if emerging from water. At that time, eliminate the obstacle by focusing your mind on the center of the lower part of your body. Also, during the day, repeatedly meditate on that same object, thinking that you should meditate like this repeatedly during sleep as well. Do not be agitated, but relax and let go. At night, when grasping dream and clear light, if you are too worried about waking up, you will wake up, so it is very important to do it with relaxation. In this way, waking distraction refers to the situation where you always wake up immediately after grasping dream and clear light. If this happens, eliminate it with that method. Even if you continuously train in focus and aspiration, there is no time when you grasp dream and clear light, and it feels as if there is no difference between meditating and not meditating. This is called confused distraction here. In other instructions such as the Five Stages and Completion Phase, it is sometimes called dull distraction. If you become confused as soon as you grasp a dream, according to this instruction, it is called weak confused distraction. In what are known as the teachings of Naropa, it is called drowsy distraction. This drowsy distraction does not occur much in the clear light of sleep. Because dreams themselves are numerous, the method of eliminating them is very important. Before going to bed, alternate between making aspirations. If it is the time to grasp a dream, sleep will become deep.
