How should one meditate appropriately? In his heart, visualize a white bindu with a reddish hue, or visualize a pure white bindu, either is fine. The size should also be determined in proportion to the Lama's body. If you visualize the Lama's body as four fingers high, then visualize the bindu as the size of a large bean. If you visualize the Lama's body as the size of a thumb, then visualize the bindu as the size of a small bean. This also applies to intermediate sizes. In any case, focus on the radiant bindu in the Lama's heart and rest in equanimity for a while. Light radiates from the bindu in the heart, illuminating and pervading the entire body clearly. The mindstream is filled with bliss. Light rays emanate from every part of the body, and the inside of one's own body becomes extremely clear. Light rays emanate from the pores of one's skin, and visualize all appearances as clear and bright. Focus the mind on the bindu in the Lama's heart for a moment, and then repeatedly practice the visualization of radiating light. When going to sleep, focus the mind on the Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: 吽) in the Lama's heart and go to sleep. The other meditation methods are the same as before. This is the forty-fifth instruction on visualization. This is the main basis for the visualization of seizing the Clear Light. The reason is that the heart chakra is also the main place where the delusion of deep sleep arises. Therefore, focusing on it and meditating on the path is the main way to overcome that delusion and manifest the Clear Light. Now, if you think that the other two places can also have the same effect, it is not certain. In general, although the strongest place for the Clear Light to manifest in deep sleep is the heart, it is difficult for the air to enter that place initially. If you focus on other places in the central channel, then the air will gather there, and an experience of Clear Light will arise immediately. If you practice this repeatedly, by simply changing your intention slightly, without any effort, the air and mind will gather in the heart, and the Clear Light will manifest effortlessly. This method can also be applied to dreams and other situations. Therefore, of these three visualizations for seizing the Clear Light, you should diligently meditate on the one that you find easiest until it produces results. However, it is not necessary for one person to practice all three at the same time. Secondly, the Clear Light Path, divided into the daytime path of the three kāyas and the nighttime self-arising of the three kāyas. Although divided into two sections, the actual practice is only one visualization.

Indeed, it is the application of the three kayas to the path! Among them, the practice during session breaks is very important. In the case of the illusory body, it serves as a substitute for combining and explaining the three aspirations. That is, as it is said, the root is impermanence and renunciation, and clear bliss is like a flower blooming. Similarly, during the session breaks of clear light, impermanence and devotion to the guru, as previously explained in the illusory body, are necessary. The meaning of needing the aspirations of illusion and dream in the illusory body and dream is that here, the way of establishing the application of the three kayas to the path is necessary. The instruction manual of Samdingpa says, "There is no clear explanation of the session breaks. Like a great garuda focusing on the letter A, be moderate in tightness and looseness." The meaning of this is that during the time of the letter A, the mind should be neither distracted nor contracted, and one should meditate in all equipoise and post-equipoise. Therefore, one should meditate in both sessions and session breaks. Generally, the way of establishing during the session is also the same, but the way of practicing during the session has already been explained separately, so here it is only in terms of session breaks. That is, while eating, walking, sleeping, sitting, and in all activities, one should repeatedly think of remembering this application of the three kayas to the path. When doing anything like walking, one should focus on whatever arises, relax awareness, and just recognize one's own face. At that time, the gaze of the eyes should also be slightly relaxed. That is, although it is initially a session break, one can quickly arrive by simply remembering during leisure time. Then, one should gradually integrate it into all busy activities. That is, on top of whatever various appearances arise, the clarity is the clear manifestation of the Nirmanakaya. Slightly looking at one's own face, what is nothing is the emptiness of the Dharmakaya. The various appearances arise without modification, and without any grasping, on that clear and aware mind, the essence is inseparable, and it arises simultaneously as one taste. That is the self-knowing, self-illuminating Sambhogakaya application to the path! Thus, one should first learn this virtuous practice of session breaks well. Then, one can mostly turn this into the path, and remember any one of the three aspirations at this time. At night, the three kayas naturally arise, and during the session, one should visualize intensely.
