It is not necessarily the case that it must be the life-sustaining wind. For example, when nine hundred water winds operate simultaneously, all ten winds operate, although the life-sustaining wind is the primary agent. Secondly, the classification of the ten winds: location, which family it belongs to, function, and manner of operation. Firstly, as stated in the scriptures: life, downward-clearing, upward-moving, pervasive, and equal-dwelling, as well as dragon, turtle, owl, gift-giving, and victorious bow. These are the five root winds: life-sustaining wind, downward-clearing wind, equal-dwelling wind, upward-moving wind, and pervasive wind; dragon, which is the moving wind; turtle, which is the all-moving wind; owl, which is the correct-moving wind; gift-giving, which is the extremely-moving wind; and victorious bow or wealth-victorious, which is the definite-moving wind. Secondly, generally, these exist in a manner that pervades the entire body, but the locations where they perform their respective functions are: the life-sustaining wind in the heart, the downward-clearing wind in the anus, the upward-moving wind in the throat, the fire-equalizing wind in the navel, and the pervasive wind starting from the crown of the head and pervading all joints. The moving wind is in the eyes, the all-moving wind is in the ears, the correct-moving wind is in the nose, the extremely-moving wind is in the tongue, and the definite-moving wind is located throughout the entire body. When these winds reside in the heart channel or organs, they are named dragon, etc. Because (the moving wind) is located in a place like a snake coiled around a rice stalk, it is called dragon; because (the all-moving wind) is located in the liver, which resembles a turtle, it is called turtle; because (the correct-moving wind) is located in the lungs, which resemble an owl, it is called owl; because (the extremely-moving wind) is located in the heart, which resembles the daughter of gift-giving wearing a white gozu, it is called gift-giving; because (the definite-moving wind) is located in the kidneys, which resemble a bow, it is called victorious bow. This is the view of the great scholar Gö Lotsawa Lhajé. Thirdly, the life-sustaining wind is Vajra Protector Akshobhya, the downward-clearing wind is Jewel Protector Ratnasambhava, the upward-moving wind is Lotus Protector Amitabha, the fire-equalizing wind is Action Protector Amoghasiddhi, and the pervasive wind is Buddha Protector Vairochana. Although the branch winds are not explicitly explained, if we add the classification of families, the moving wind is Vairochana, the all-moving wind is Akshobhya, the correct-moving wind is Ratnasambhava, the extremely-moving wind is Amitabha, and the definite-moving wind is the family of Amoghasiddhi. Regarding the great element winds,
