Although it is not conceptual thought itself, based on the experience of seeing emptiness-forms, without relying on scriptural or logical proofs, one can ascertain through the power of experience that emptiness-forms are not other than one's own mind. At that point, one can give both common and uncommon introductions to it. If one meditates on the four preliminaries with no expectations for a long time, even if one does not reach the actual instructions, one can plant a genuine introduction to the aspect of emptiness in the experience of the preliminaries. At that time, many uncertain signs will appear, so one can also give a rough, corresponding introduction to the aspect of appearance. However, because later practice does not cultivate the three solitudes for a long time, but immediately enters the main practice, one does not give the introduction at that time. That is, the current coarse appearance is a mind-appearance, like an unreal illusion, without foundation or root, and the Sugata-essence is primordially spontaneously accomplished. Although one can gain certainty about this through scripture and reasoning, one cannot gain certainty through the power of experience until pure meditation arises. If one introduces the power of experience through the power of emptiness-forms, then one can also generate deep certainty from within about this coarse appearance through the power of experience. For example, if a student repeatedly has the appearance of blue bindus like a string of beads, one should say: You have the appearance of bindus. That is not form. It is not seen by the eyes. Sometimes it also appears in the direction of the back of the head, where the eyes cannot see. Also, look at it by covering it with your palm. It cannot be obscured by that. It is not that the palm goes around behind and comes back. Therefore, although you see the bindu as being outside, it is not actually outside. It is not your own body either. Because there is no basis whatsoever, it is only mind. Just by the mind abiding, the form of the bindu is clear, abundant, and stable. When the mind does not abide, it is the opposite. Therefore, mind is emptiness-form, and the sign that emptiness-form is mind is this. If the mind does not abide, one does not see the self-nature of the mind. The reason why one sees the self-nature when it abides is because it arises in that way. Therefore, this emptiness-form does not exist as something other than the mind. This emptiness-form appearing in this way is

Just as external phenomena are not truly existent but are merely manifestations of the mind, all these coarse karmic appearances that we experience now, although they appear clear and stable, are not in the slightest way established as being separate from the mind. The mere fact that they appear to exist externally does not prove that they truly exist externally, just like the empty-form bindus that we see now. Similarly, the mere fact that they appear clear or stable does not prove that they are external objects, just like the bindu forms that you see. Furthermore, when we fall into a deep sleep, and our visual consciousness ceases to function, external forms also cease to exist. And when we wake up and our visual consciousness arises, external forms reappear. Therefore, the visual appearances that we see now are not separate from our visual consciousness; in reality, they are merely appearances whose illusory nature we have not recognized. This is like how empty-form bindus appear when the mind is in a certain state, and do not appear when the mind is not in that state. Furthermore, when a person falls asleep, he cannot see external forms, but this does not mean that external forms have ceased to exist. If you think that because when he is asleep, other people can still see external forms, therefore external forms have not ceased to exist, then you have not understood the key point. For example, when you fall asleep, your friends see houses and objects, and that is because your friends have visual consciousness. Similarly, when both of you fall asleep, and another person sees houses and objects, it is the same principle. Therefore, we can extend this reasoning infinitely: as long as there is visual consciousness, external forms exist; when there is no visual consciousness, external forms do not exist. Therefore, we can conclude that external forms are merely manifestations of the mind. The same principle applies to sound and the other five sense experiences. In this way, we simultaneously recognize the nature of empty-form and awareness. Then, we separate them and analyze them individually. This awareness itself is also not truly existent, because thoughts are merely fleeting moments and cannot last. Apart from the fact that one thought arises after the previous thought has ceased, there is no continuous stream of thoughts. Apart from the fact that thoughts are arising and ceasing, nothing remains constant. When we examine closely, apart from something that resembles a change in light or color, there is nothing that can be identified as truly existent. Therefore, thoughts are merely illusions and are not truly existent. Similarly, for all the consciousnesses that perceive forms, sounds, smells, tastes, and tactile sensations, we can draw the same conclusion: they are not truly existent. Furthermore, this pure awareness that does not touch external appearances or internal thoughts is always
