Although there are many ways to distinguish the four branches, here we combine the preliminary and main practices of the Completion Stage. It is necessary to count one complete cycle of the four branches of recitation and practice, rather than the independent four-fold preliminary practices, which are recitation. The main practices of gathering, visualization, and life-holding are the near practice. Subsequent mindfulness is practice, and meditative stabilization is placed as the great practice. Therefore, the preliminary practice is counted as one, and the main practice as three. Because there is this clear tantric phrase, the guidance of the three solitudes or the independent four-fold practices, thinking that it is not necessary separately, unimportant, and abandoning it, not only will important key points be missed during practice, but also for the meaning of the tantric phrase that is repeatedly recited from the mouth, there is no careful analysis and research, which is a hasty action. Therefore, what is needed here is the first sentence. Explaining the meaning of this sentence, it is said in the Vimalaprabha: 'Here, the beginner should first perform recitation through the ritual of the practice method, so-called recitation with the five amritas, etc. The external five amritas are, teachings, etc., and the word 'etc.' includes go-kula, etc., to deeply recite them for the pleasure of the deity. The internal five amritas are, the five aggregates, and the word 'etc.' includes the five senses, which are the five lamps. Not relying on these is recitation, completely abandoning attachment to body and possessions. Through recitation, the deity will grant supreme accomplishments, not by eating feces, etc. The so-called water, jewels, vajras, etc., is not relying on the enjoyment of the body, not relying on the enjoyment of speech, not relying on the enjoyment of mind, not relying on the enjoyment of rebirth, which is recitation, the discipline of body, speech, mind, and celibacy.' This is the meaning of it. Through this, the deity will grant supreme accomplishments, not by clinging to the enjoyment of samsara.' Thus it is said. To this, some scholars create the term 'independent six-fold' and say that it is the unique common preliminary practice of gathering. Creating the independent six-fold, which is in accordance with the tone of the commentary, is also good. From this, the branches of gathering also arise in sequence, so there is no contradiction in meaning. But when establishing the classification, considering it only as the preliminary practice of gathering

It is not good, so the masters of our own tradition consider the six branches of common preliminaries to be the point. The reason for this is that the main practice of the six branches is the yoga of the four vajras. Therefore, in order to lay its foundation, the four independent ones are also needed, so it is said that it is the water treasure vajra. The enjoyment of the body is independent, which is the yoga of remembering the body vajra. Similarly, the speech is independent of the life-holding speech, the mind is independent of the recollection of the mind, and the enjoyment of the transference is the preliminary practice of laying the foundation of the yoga of the wisdom vajra of samadhi. Therefore, it is not only used for the preliminary practice of gathering. Although it is said that there are actually six categories of independence, the two of the five aggregates and the five senses are not included in the four independent ones. The four independent ones are indicated by the symbols of the four vajras, so it is clear that it is the main thing to explain with the number four. The necessity of saying the six categories separately is, for example, if you practice the deity through the generation stage, then the main practice of the four vajra paths is to practice the four branches of approaching and accomplishing, and as a component, to make offerings and tormas, and to fulfill the vows of enjoying the tsok. Just as you need to do the approaching by stimulating the mind through the recitation of mantras, here too, for the deity approaching of the completion stage, the three solitudes, the main practice is the four independent ones, and the offerings and tormas, and the two independent ones of the aggregates and realms as substitutes for the vows of enjoying, and the substitute for the recitation needs a coarse ordinary air practice. Therefore, for the preliminary practice of the completion stage, the way in which the generation stage and its substitutes are complete is explained. Even if there are six categories of independence, the actual classification method is that the two categories are gathered up and down, and only six are produced. It is not to count six on one category and one basis. If that were the case, then it would not be said that the five ambrosias and so on are the water treasure vajra, but it should be said that the six of the five ambrosias and so on. For example, in one category, the Brahmin caste, the royal caste, the lord caste, and the commoner caste, thus speaking of the four castes.
