Even the merit accumulated from (evil deeds) will eventually become the cause of wandering in samsara. Not to mention other actions. Now is the time to strive for the eternal future! Accumulating karma through afflictions, experiencing suffering, the impure appearance of samsara arises. Just like a silkworm, binding oneself, one can never be liberated, experiencing immeasurable suffering. Because one does not allow one's own mind to abide in its natural state, one becomes attached to one thing and hates another. Not understanding the true nature, one becomes dizzy. Whatever affliction arises, it is one's own mind. Karma is accumulated by afflictions, therefore, the root of this wheel of suffering in samsara comes from one's own mind. Liberation is also liberation in one's own mind. This is the fourth story about karma and its results. The state of samsara is like this, in order to avoid endless suffering and to attain the state of eternal bliss, one must strive now no matter what. The three, view, conduct, and meditation, must be complete and put into practice. Just like a quiver, these three are interdependent. Even good conduct without view is a cause of samsara that clings to appearances. A view that lacks conduct, even if accumulating merit, is not complete, and there is a danger of falling into the abyss of nihilistic views. If there is no meditation, view and conduct, like a treasure underground, are of no help. Just like in the basement of a poor person's house, there is an inexhaustible treasure worth seven talas (an ancient Indian unit of weight), but the poor person suffers from hunger. Even if one speaks a lot about good view and conduct, if one does not practice through meditation, and the mind and Dharma are not integrated, it is difficult to be helpful when needed. The Buddha, as the common ancestor of all sentient beings, for the benefit of sentient beings, taught the three trainings of discipline, wisdom, and meditation. The training of discipline is conduct, the training of wisdom is view, and meditation is the training of the mind. One should strive for these three trainings. The king of views is freedom from extremes, free from the extreme of permanence that clings to existence, free from the extreme of annihilation that clings to non-existence, the Middle Way that does not cling to anything. From the perfect Buddha above, to the hell realms below, the external land, stones, mountains, rocks, and world, the internal five aggregates, eighteen realms, and six sense faculties, etc., and the appearance of beings in the six realms,

|| Objects, forms, sounds, smells, tastes, tangible objects, and dharmas, all are merely appearances of one's own mind. Although there is nothing external, it appears to exist. All appearances like this Are neither outside nor inside. They are not established as objects or mind. Just like the illusory appearance of madness, Although there is no enemy in reality, the enemy appears to chase oneself. That appearance as an enemy is a mental appearance. Not only is there nothing external, but like the illusion of an enemy, How can it be established in the essence of the mind? Because form is not established from the beginning, In the appearance of the delusion of one's own mind, although it appears in the form of form, Not only is there no form externally, but how can it be established in the essence of the mind? If there are no horns on a rabbit's head, even if one dreams of rabbit horns in a dream, That is merely an appearance of delusion. It does not exist anywhere, inside or outside. Likewise, all phenomena, Not only is samsara empty from the beginning, But also the various ways of arising on the path, And the vast array of pure appearances of the result, All are magical displays of the mind. The nature of the mind is like the sky. It is never possible to change, and there is no partiality, nearness, or distance to anything. There are no characteristics such as color or shape. It cannot be seen or grasped. No matter what is done, it can be contained, and all containers and contents can arise. It cannot be said to be either existent or nonexistent. This precious king of mind Is nothing and has no object of focus. Of the characteristics of any phenomena, It cannot be said that it exists in this way. Samsara, containers and contents, the world, Actions, afflictions, suffering, etc., Faith, compassion, emptiness meditation, The stages of the ground and the path, Experiences, realizations, qualities, and ways of arising, And the compassion of the Buddha, the result, Wisdom, miraculous powers, might, and strength, And activities appear without interruption. This inexhaustible arising of the ground, path, and result Arises as an appearance of one's own mind alone. Therefore, it cannot be said to be nonexistent. From beginningless samsara to the end of the future, The nature of the mind is clear and empty. Even when born in the lower realms of hell, Its essence does not become evil, and when one attains perfect Buddhahood, Its essence does not become good. Because the clarity never ceases, it is not nonexistent. Because it has never been identified, it is not existent. It is neither both nor not both.
